Hes right. Hes the most important figure in gaming.

When he dies it would be like if the greatest man who ever existed in any other field dies

erasure2425218d ago

LOL @ the 5 people that disagreed with you. No matter what "fanboy" camp you are in, everybody has nothing but respect for Miyamoto... That is just FACT... He is one of the most important figures in gaming.

Blastoise5219d ago

As a sony fanboy even i`d be a fool to say this man is anything less than a legend.

360ICE5219d ago

I wouldn't say he IS the most important figure in gaming right now, but certainly he's one of the greatest legends in gaming to date. Don't look for a replacement when Miyamoto is finished though, look for someone who does something new.

Knight_Cid5218d ago

He is the most important figure in gaming right now

He was directly involved in the majority of the highest selling and highest reviewed games this gen.

There is nobody more important to this industry

360ICE5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

BS, the most IMPORTANT (not the best developers, but the most important) people in the industry are those who develop new franchises, and who raise industry standards (not neccessarily graphicall). The pioneers. And Miyamoto has been one of the greatest pioneers of all time, also he did help design the Wii quite recently, but after that he's pretty much been sailing explored sea - which he does very well, but it's the boats riding the new waves that are most important to the continued success and rising popularity of this industry. Again, since there might be Nintendo fanboys here I have to be very clear. I believe that Miyamoto is not the most IMPORTANT man in the industry right NOW, but that he certainly has been for some time, and I would consider him as the greatest developer of all time. Also he's Japanese.

@Rayko
Pretty much what Sugreev said.

Knight_Cid5218d ago

@360ice

your completely off base. The most important devs are the people in the industry who are the best at what they do, have impact in the industry. And that is no many other than miyamoto

New franchises are irrelevant if they are shit.

Miyamoto didnt raise industry standards? Over 25 of his games this gen have either sold over 10 million copies or are the highest reviewed games in the genre they were in.

"Also hes japanese'

what the hell is this? are you racist>...........

Rayko5218d ago

without him we would only be experiencing COD games and COD-ripoffs. Thank to Nintendo, I still, with many others enjoy games.

Squatch835218d ago

Id say hes among the most important people to ever be in gaming.

Nolan Bushnell: Started Atari and got the industry to be popular.
Hiroshi Yamauchi: Made Nintendo into a games company.
Shigsy: Created Mario, and that game with the NES rescued the industry from the crash.

This is an extremely well crafted, albeit late, response to the Miyamoto retirement scandal of 2011. Seems to be almost a tactic of Japanese companies, to claim miscommunication and take their time releasing a well thought out response. I laughed when Iwata mentioned the internet being a scary place (friend codes lol). Miyamoto is an icon of the industry, no doubt.

Miyamoto is one of the grandfather's of the industry, he knows that Nintendo is on borrowed time making video games as the tastes change and in 20 years time everybody will be streaming games on Game Pass.

Nintendo is showing great foresight moving into focusing on family friendly movies, a Kirby movie could help Nintendo become bigger than Disney. I speak for everyone on N4G when I say that Nintendo, rather than waste time churning out more milquetoast, it should sell the rights to making games with its IP to Microsoft Game Studios. Can you imagine the quality of games and the output frequency if Microsoft was making games with Nintendo IP? You could have a new Zelda and Mario and Pokemon EVERY year. Just think, a new Zelda game made with one of the best RPG game engines in the world, the Creation Engine by Bethesda. You could even have franchise crossovers like Master Chief appearing in Mario and shooting everything, so you don't have to solve stupid puzzles. The possibilities are endless. 🤞🏼

Miyamoto is one of the grandfather's of the industry, he knows that Nintendo is on borrowed time making video games as the tastes change and in 20 years time everybody will be streaming games on PlayStation Plus.

Nintendo is showing great foresight moving into focusing on family friendly movies, a Kirby movie could help Nintendo become bigger than Disney. I speak for everyone on N4G when I say that Nintendo, rather than just taking a long time churning out hits, it should create an alliance to making games with its IP with Sony Studios. Can you imagine the quality of games and the output frequency if Sony was helping to make games with Nintendo IP? You could have a new Zelda and Mario and Pokemon EVERY 3 years. Just think, a new Zelda game made with one of the best game engines in the world, the Decima Engine by Guerrilla Games. You could even have franchise crossovers like Astrobot or Ratchet appearing in Mario and shooting everything, so you don't have to solve stupid puzzles. The possibilities are endless. 🤞🏼

Your post was so ridiculous that I had to respond. Why would Nintendo want to lose all that money and profits selling their IP to a losing brand and an unprofitable service like game pass. Nintendo is not stupid. The company that has lost 4 generations to Nintendo or Sony isn't even worth working with when the Microsoft brand is dying.

As for Miyamoto, games don't stop working. Maybe the translation is bad. But if it's true, it's a dumb comment from an industry leader.

VenomUK205d ago (Edited 205d ago )

@ApocalypseShadow - Thank you for sharing your feedback. What are your thoughts about, going forward, Microsoft should now make all Nintendo games and annualise them, and the part about Halo's Master Chief should appear in Super Mario games to allow you to avoid puzzles by shooting everything instead?

😂😂 thanks for the laugh, love a good sarcastic post

Inverno206d ago

They'll definitely stop running if y'all keep going after emulators and rom sites smh. Also movies get lost to history too. You got fans and pirating to thank for any effort being put into preserving movies. If not for them we'd be stuck with watching heavily re-edited versions of classics. It's so weirdly backwards to say that too when games have overtaking movies for years now smh

Miraak82 206d ago

SMB movie made almost a billion and a half on a 100 mil budget , I'm sure Zelda if done right will make even more as it has a wider appeal . Easy money if they put a N branded quality movie every few years . Hopefully we'll eventually get a Metroid movie.

GAMERJET206d ago

"Games eventually stop running when newer versions come out,"
Only if you make live service slop or online only single player games.

My classic Nintendo cartridge systems still run fine...

By making pretty much only AA games so they can sell them for the same price as AAA games.

By being threatened by dev teams innovating on formulas found in your cash cow, but are either afraid or lack the talent to implement themselves

cthulhucultist549d ago

Well with the exception of Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles series, Nintendo first party games are usually less demanding (see Arms, Nintendo sports series 2d kirby + mario games, Mario sports series, Warioware, Mario Party etc).

Zelda doesnt even have voice acting for its characters most of the time and its games use simpler textures than lets say Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Gears of War 5 etc which means that the development costs are lower.

Even so, their games are generally polished and well thought of and as the Switch generation showed, many of their franchises actually grew considerably in sales (Kirby , Xenoblades, Metroid etc).

FinalFantasyFanatic548d ago

I still love Zelda, and Mario Kart/Party is always a good time as well, although Nintendo isn't chasing hyper realistic graphics like a lot of the other studios are.
