Much like the Sonic article we posted just yesterday, nothing is really wrong with not taking things immediately at face value. Research is important, wit and wisdom is necessary. You might actually need all three with this: images of PlayStation 3, take note, plugged in and turned on.
An anonymous insider over at PS3 Forums (with registered nick "ps3insider") uploaded the two pictures of Sony's coming next-gen console up and running. Both images were taken using a mobile phone. The first picture is a bit tricky, but the green and blue LEDs remind us of PS2. Also, the shot is vertical meaning the floor is at the right side. On the other hand, the next picture shows the back of the PS3. The cable nearer the power switch is the power cable. The other cable is the HDMI cable that goes to the TV.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
thats sweet, if it's running then this really means that we shall be seeing the retail PS3's runing with the demo's on them at TGS, this is awesome if this pic depictions re true, but i'm sure TGS will tell all this wednesday for us over here in North America, since jappan is exactly 14 hours difference in time zones, so i'll actually be able to catch Sony's conference and Microsofts conference before i leave on thursday.
And as far as I can tell he's a legit insider. The people actually went as far as to tell him NOT to show them the start-up sequence. Didn't want him to get into trouble. I can't believe we only have to wait 3 more days until an avalanche of TGS info starts pouring in. I wonder how the mods are gonna handle the slew of news posts here (though i'm sure they can handle it).
We should have bets as to whether Sony will show Killzone.
i hope they show killzone. if it doesn't then it would not be wise. Sony dont want any negative buzz before launch.
ive tried submitting these pic on Sunday but it wasnt approved. what did i do wrong?? nevermind.. as long as other people manage to share this piece with other fans im happy though...
finally i got to say this... THE PS3 DIDNT USE EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY... wooohooo... and its still quiet... notice the power cable? it is the standard size power cable almost similar to the one that we use for pc.. this means the power supply is in the PS3 itself.. if it uses the external power supply/adaptor box, the cable would be much more smaller... im sure will be a happy gamer when i get my hands on my PS3.. yeahhaaa..
Did it really got this sad that a picture with two lights on and a switch on the back says 'on'???
For real. Must this prove that the PS3 is finally running? It is actually sad that this has to cope with all bad news Sony brings out.
And to play the devils advocate: getting power on some led lights isn't so hard to do, I don't see a PS3 running demo's or it's own OS actually.
And about the external power supply: it's still arguable if it's there or not. On the pic you only see a small part of the cable running to the PS3 and the connector... As long as you didn't saw the actual connector you can't say if it's a standard cable running directly to it or having a big ass external supply just 20 cm down the cable.
If you'd ask me: it's a good thing to have a big powersupply external. Internal only makes more possible problems with overheating, if it brakes down you need to let repair the whole console instead of ordering a seperate power supply, if the powersupply burns down your whole console burns down ;)
For real. This is not saying much and I guess even Sony fanboys will agree. Wouldn't everyone want to see a running PS3 with a HDTV connected to it? With some real ingame footage? After Virtua Fighter 5 pictures I saw yesterday though, looking like PS2 game, I am really thinking Sony can't live up to the hype it tried to create (and that they already unhyped themselves with all the bad news of the last months)
