"We saw recently how Japanese sales figures for high-definition video recorders make worrying reading for the backers of HD DVD, so it's no surprise that the latest data on the market for players and recorders as a whole shows more of the same.
What is unexpected, though, is the relatively low level of public awareness about the differences between Blu-ray and HD DVD that comes through in surveys by Japanese research firms NTT Resonant and Impress R&D."

You can get Hall effect controllers slightly cheaper, but you'd struggle to find as feature-rich a package without some heavy, heavy sales.

Pascal Gilcher calls DLSS 5 impressive but shares the "AI slop" sentiment, explaining the likely tech behind it and why he dislikes it.
I fail to see how this is AI shhhhlllloooop. Looking at the different games they showed, this has made many of them look far better.
If you don’t like it, just don’t enable it. Personally I think it looks great from the videos I have seen.
Making characters look more realistic not ok because we want the developer to decide on how the game was intended to look. - Internet
Change entire game through mods thus changing how the developers intended the game to be is ok. - Internet
All the comments I see are reminding me of how we got to the current state of gaming when microtransactions were first introduced: "It's completely optional guys, we promise! If you don't like it just don't buy it!"
I think we all know how that ended up.
Biggest Scam. Overrides lighting and shadow. So why keep Ray tracing? It's all a scam to raise graphic card. We now see Nvidia with Microsoft downturn anything against them. Sony is next!
people will obt for HD DVD, the cheaper most reconisable product out there
People nowadays see higher price... means better quality... and 99.9% of the time... they are right... Blu ray slaughtered HD-EAD... sorry, google it...
i don't even know the difference between the two and i own a PS3 and 360.
i consider myself pretty tech savvy, just the profiles and stuff get updated so often that i just don't even care to keep up. not only have i not played a blu-ray disc in my PS3 yet, but i could care less actually. DVD's look just fine to me in my PS3.
People come in my store asking the diffrence, i see people with HD DVD players i could give them one reason to put it back.
sony samsung sharp panasonic LG (dual format) Pioneer all have blu ray players while only toshiba makes hd-dvd
consumers are starting to see that theres more choice out there so thats why they are going blu.
and ill put it like this people my HATE sony, but they may love sharp, or panny or samsung or pioneer. what happens if somebody hates toshiba?
and really until i see another MAJOR CE manufacturer makes a HD DVD player then ill say blu ray is in trouble.
toshiba started the price war, and the hd dvd players just arent lucrative for any other major CE manufacturer to hop on their side.
betmax had momentum then it shifted suddenly, but i dont see that happening with blu ray toshiba is in the minority in the industy they have to stop the bleeding sometime. i know stockholders dont want to see the Q4 fiscal report
heres a preview
we pushed out 90,000 HD DVD players one week
and we made -$100 on each one.
that doesnt sit to pretty add that with the 150 million paramount had gotten unless MS fronted the BIll
There is a ton of misinformation out there. When I go into the Rogers Video's up here in Canada, I have the staff asking me what the differences are between the two. The other thing that doesn't help is that you also have the knobs at several "big box" stores, who either have no clue what the hell they are talking about, or worse, who have been told to push one format over another (in my experience it's always been Blu-ray), spreading misinforation across the land (e.g., "Rogers Video only rents Blu-ray"--Uh, DUH! No, that's not true). Most people have no clue about the formats, never mind what the differences are. It certainly doesn't help the situation.
I don't mind either format, but HD-DVD has more features than Blu-ray, which is a plus in my book. I like the capacity that Blu-ray has, and the scratch-resistant coating, but it really lacks a lot of the features that HD-DVD has. Everyone keeps yapping about 300 selling so well on Blu-ray, but the fact of the matter is that 300 is way better on HD-DVD. The picture and sound are the same, but there's way more stuff on the HD-DVD release of it.
