The original Super Mario Bros is probably the most recognized and loved video-game in history...

Personally I wouldn't place any game above it. But apart from that.... The honor goes to Super Mario Galaxy 2 imo

Super mario world, one of the many retro games that bring back childhood memories. Still one of my all time favorites.

Yoshi Island one of the games that had me yelling at my tv.
"OMG! Mario stop whining and shut up"

Super Mario 3D Land is incredible and should be on any such list.

Not only is Super Mario 64 the best Mario game, it's one of the best video games of all time.

the game was quite impressive back in the day but it aged really bad. The camera, the graphics, the level design, the gameplay is just plain outdated and for many people downright unplayable without the nostalgia factor.

But Mario 1, 3 and World are still as amazing as you remember them to be.

I completely disagree. the only thing that has aged is the graphics. I still have more fun replaying this game than any platformer (and most games for that matter) for the first time.

The level structure, jumping mechanics, and sense of discovery are unparalleled still.

Am I the only one that loved "Super Mario Sunshine"?

No you are not. The hubworld theme always finds a way of bringing me back to wanting to play it again.

Super Mario 64 DS, a Twenty Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Super Mario 64 DS may not have been “better” than Super Mario 64, but it is indeed “more” than Super Mario 64, if that makes any sense. For a kid back in 2004, having a Nintendo 64 classic on the palm of your hand, with more content than the original, and a crapton of amazing minigames on the side, was more than enough to make me ignore the admittedly terrible controls I had to put up with. Two decades later, it bizarrely holds up. I can easily affirm it’s one of my favorite remakes of all time, even if it’s far from perfect… hell, possibly not even better than the game it was supposed to be an improvement of."
