When Resident Evil first hit, it was like nothing the home console market had ever seen. George Romero-style zombies in a videogame? Cinematic camera angles? Finite ammo and health? Constantly being forced to choose between fighting and fleeing from your enemies, without ever being sure which path is best? An overarching theme of distrust and claustrophobic entrapment? Sure, some of those design choices had leaked their way into Alone in the Dark and a few other previously released titles, but Resident Evil was the first game to stir all those ingredients together and plop them into the laps of an eager audience starving to experience something new.

A new rating of Resident Evil 6 for Xbox has been spotted, which could suggest that it's getting a current gen port for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
I loved Resident Evil 4 back in the day and enjoyed Resident Evil 5 even though I had to do co-op to beat the final boss. Shiva was just too dumb.
Resident Evil 6 on the other hand, was so bad that I stopped playing after an hour in the game. That was before I even played any high-quality single-player games outside of Mass Effect, Portal, and Skyrim. I can't imagine playing RE6 now.
Chances are their next remake will be 5.
I just don't get why it's already on the platforms via BC unless it's a remake which would piss everyone off as fans are hoping for either the original game or code veronica to get the remake treatment

GF365: "The iconic survival horror franchise Resident Evil boasts a great number of popular and memorable characters. Arguably, Leon S. Kennedy is the most popular and recognizable character aside from Jill Valentine. In this article, we'll be counting down every Resident Evil game Leon is featured in, ranked."
Yeah I figured it would be ordered like this. For me Leons best game was his debut. RE2.

The modern entertainment industry has witnessed the rise of the Resident Evil franchise as one of its most renowned and celebrated multimedia phenomena. With numerous video games released across multiple platforms, it can be daunting for newcomers to determine where to commence their journey. So here is every main mainline Resident Evil Games ranked.
In preparation for the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake, let’s take the liberty to rank each of the mainline story instalments, providing players with a fundamental comprehension of the Resident Evil universe.
RIP Resident Evil.
YOU'VE JUST BEEN CODIFIED.
Just start a petition to get the game cancelled, Jesus Christ.
Let capcom know the "true fans" don't want the game.
Write one up for Metal Gear Rising while you're at it too. Forget new ideas, forget giving people the benefit of the doubt.
Not just speaking of the article but all of the damn comments in there too. Almost nobody brings up the fact that it was only one trailer.
What is wrong with people?
People enjoy their bubble of nostalgia and don't feel as if a franchise can ever trek new ground without ruining their original interpretation of it. They're afraid of their favorite franchise entering an obscurity similar to Sonic the Hedgehog post-Adventure 2/pre-Generations.
It's sad that people don't give new ideas a chance. I'm sure I will be blasted for saying that because "CoDifying RE is not innovation." Well, neither is telling Capcom to take the franchise backwards. It's okay to be nostalgic. but it's like telling a band to go back and make more music like their early stuff; the old stuff is the old stuff. Go put in an old CD if you want to hear their older music.
Not all ideas work aesthetically (matter of fact, I'm among the crowd of skeptics who have openly voiced negative opinions of the new Devil May Cry reboot), but what I find unfair is that these so-called "true fans" think they own the franchise and that those of us who enjoy the newer games (you know, those of us who supported the ideas Capcom set in place and helped make the franchise an even bigger success) deserve nothing.
The commonly panned RE5 is not even entirely all bad. It was just different and people just do not like different.
That's my little rant. Hope somebody gets what I'm saying and tries to see things from my point of view.
Going to get bashed for it, but the truth hurts...
Capcom is going to take the series where the money is. Whether that cash lies with the longtime fans of the series or newcomers is pretty obvious. Survival horror is a niche market - action is far more broad. You can sell a survival horror game to a fan, but not to the rest of the world. If Capcom wants to stay competitive with their franchises, they need to sell it to the biggest audience and forget about that niche market of long-time fans.
It doesn't matter what the game classifies itself as - the initial trailer marketed action over anything else. Not saying other sections didn't exist, but what stood out to me were the overwhelming action moments. That should tell you something about how Capcom is marketing the game.
