Zombies Confirmed for “Black Ops 2″?

MP1st - Could we be seeing yet another instalment of Treyarch’s popular Zombie mode in their next Call of Duty title? Sound Designer on Zombies, Collin Ayers, hints at the possibility.

Mister_V5227d ago

I'd like to see the inclusion of more melee based weapons. The bowie knife was cool, so maybe add different knife types, different swinging animations that have different effects?

Nitrowolf25227d ago

I think it's safe to say that any Cod from Treyarch will have zombies

Lazy_Sunday5227d ago (Edited 5227d ago )

If there are no zombies then the game will fail, hands down. Hate to be a downer, but MW3 is already enough of a disappointment without them, another CoD episode without Zombies would leave most with a bad taste in their mouths well deserved if Activision decides to opt out on one of the most experimental and fun parts of their franchise.

Ravenor5227d ago

Would rather have the diversity of the spec ops missions any day then boring ass zombies. How people still gleaned any enjoyment out of Black ops Zombies after WaW is beyond me.

Lazy_Sunday5227d ago (Edited 5227d ago )

Spec ops is fun, but it's far from diverse. Tell me we haven't seen a co-op horde mode variant with mediocre AI. Zombies really is what makes Treyarch's CoD special, without a doubt.
While yes, MW3 is a fun game, I just haven't had as fun as I did with the previous 3, and it still does feel entirely too copy-paste. The game plays it safe, and on an artistic standpoint, is hardly what we can consider experimental. Then again, not flaunting the formula, but people don't seem to be responding to MW3 with the same energy as, again, the previous 3--it's starting to lose that thing that makes it special because of lack of innovation--people can see that lack of quality. I see the game fading in the future, unless the coming gen brings a new engine and revised formula to keep the game fresh.

Intentions5226d ago

There better be 4 player local splitscreen.

Lazy_Sunday5226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

Who doesn't love 4 player local? People disagreeing with that is just dumb.

Maybe they could optimize the game to run better so it doesn't play like Black Ops at 30-40FPS and more like MW3 at 60FPS. A man can dream, eh?

They should add ability for PSN logins on splitscreen as well, XBL already has it--and they could even get rid of the ugly black border that cuts off part of the screen.

"But that part of the screen would give them an advantage" you say? No, it's fucking not an advantage, it's no where near a fucking advantage because it's not fucking fullscreen!

...
*ahem*
...

I'd love to see 8 player zombie maps, but that might be too much.

Also added mic functionality to LAN party zombies. I don't know why it isn't already in there, but it better be come the end of the year.

I don't really think we needed a confirmation but still, as much as I've grown to dislike Call of Duty, it's Zombie mode will always have a place in my heart.

BattleTorn5227d ago

I hate the fact that, because of Zombies, I'll end up buying yet another Call of Duty (maybe, not at launch)

im_right5226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

"Killing Floor" is the best hardcore zombie game on STEAM.

ape0075227d ago (Edited 5227d ago )

im sad that my one of my favorite game franchises of all time "Call Of Duty" has turned into this, im not saying it's bad, i enjoyed mw3 and black ops but they don't have that powerful fresh feel like Cod 4 and Mw2.... and mw3 is the worst of the mw series, maps are so dull, everything is like copy and paste from mw2, soundtarck is nowhere near mw2 or cod 4, the game feel soulless and bland, the old IW magic is nowhere to be found

Criminal5227d ago (Edited 5227d ago )

I'll take Tryarch's Zombies over IW's spec ops any day.

Der_Kommandant5227d ago (Edited 5227d ago )

Kind of a no brainer here.

Xbox $70 billion bet paid out

fr0sty1008d ago

Guess that's what happens when there's no good new games to play...

4Sh0w1007d ago (Edited 1007d ago )

Well regardless of exclusives, or whatever else there is to play on Xbox or ps, CoD has has still been the top selling game on ps platform since forever also.....so no surprise that the most popular game franchise on any console could easily have a revival due to servers coming back online...this is just credit to xbox backwards compatibility & thats good thing for Xbox gamers.

wiz71911007d ago

@Frosty orrrr maybe it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go back to the peak of the series .. and it’s beem great lol

mkis0071007d ago

It's going to take 10 years for xbox to generate that much profit...

Rhythmattic1007d ago

Why worry when they have OS, Server and Background Data in their hands...
Gaming is just the small piece, at the top left in a few K piece jigsaw.

EasilyTheBest1007d ago

If you buy a house with cash for 1 million dollars you still own the house. Microsoft don't need to make the money back.

Rhythmattic1005d ago

But its not money back, its about how it goes missing.

jznrpg1007d ago

Shooters is what Xbox people play most of the time and that’s about it by the numbers and sales of games.

shinoff21831008d ago

Atkeast older gamers nostalgia is good. Jeez.

Jin_Sakai1008d ago

Mostly because the new CoD games are garbage. The old games were much better.

Rutaprkl1007d ago

Agree 100%. Cod 4, WaW, Black ops 1 & 2, those were the days.

Rhythmattic1007d ago

For MP, Unreal tournament , QIII Arena (loved the UT mod) FTW!

RaidenBlack1007d ago

Unreal Tournament and Quake III were simply amazing ... CoD's and CoD-likes' rise killed the arena shooter popularity ...
Unreal Tournament 2004 is my favorite in the series.
Didn't enjoy Unreal Tournament III, Quake Champions that much.
Too bad Epic cancelled Unreal Tournament 2014 becoz of Fortnite

Rhythmattic1006d ago (Edited 1006d ago )

I got hooked on the QIII Urban Terror mod (and my work colleagues I introduced them to)... LAN Sessions at the closing of the doors at work, into the night , sinking beers and eating pizza..... Good times.

thesoftware7301008d ago

Wow, good games never get old I guess.

CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.

CrimsonWing691008d ago

Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.

1Victor1007d ago

@crimson:” Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.”
I agree it’s worthy at the start of the generation when there’s few new generation games but halfway through the generation it’s not a feature.
Now it’s good that this game is finding a renewed life for its fan but it shows a mayor flaw in new games release when a close decade old game is toppling the charts

CrimsonWing691007d ago

I don't know if I understand what you mean. It's a feature regardless of the time into the generation.

Let's take Armored Core 6 for example. Let's say I'm interested in checking out the previous Armored Core games, sure would be nice if I could play them on my current-gen console.

We're about 3 years into current-gen and old games are hitting in the top 5 for sales charts in the month.

I do get where you're coming from with older games possibly being better than the newer games, but the feature stays the feature. I can only speak for myself, but when there's a lull in game releases or nothing great is out, I like to go back to old titles. It's just nice to not have to have a bunch of consoles out to do so.

I think moving forward it'll be less and less of an issue as like with the PS5 you can access most all of the PS4 games, but I like going back to PS1 and PS2. Would be awesome to kind of make backwards compatibility a prioritized feature moving forward. Hell, Sony was the first to implement it.
