Both Catherine and Dead Island sold well, I really wouldn't call them sleeper hits.

Shadow of the Damned is underrated. Its a good game ,but it just never sold well. According to VGChartz its only sold 230k, globally. Both Catherine and Dead Island sold more than.

According to VGC

Catherine only sold .29 in the US (it was released in japan a year earlier).

Now I love Catherine and it was probably my 3rd or 4th favorite ame last year. But, I'd say the only game that was a "hit" out of those was Dead Island.

And the quality of catherine really wasn't surprising, because it was done by the persona team.

Catherine's sales far exceeded the expectations of the developer.

Even the Japanese sales alone were way more than they were expecting for the game.
