"Each figure contains different in-game content, exclusive to North American released product."

Cutting out content from the game and releasing it as DLC is dodgy enough, but this sucks even more. Looks like I'll be missing out.

Pass. I'll wait for the "GotY" edition that includes all the missing content.

This is only the tip of the iceberg sadly its bound to get worse. Here when I thought on-disk dlc couldn't get any worse. Then they come surprise me with this BS.

ljh2175231d ago

It's like EA saw Skylanders and thought 'that's a great way to **** off our main audience'.

snipes1015231d ago

This is not a business model that I can say I approve of.

gamingdroid5232d ago (Edited 5232d ago )

Kind of sad to see that EA bought up Bioware and essentially abusing DLC with ME.

Julie5232d ago (Edited 5232d ago )

Same as the abuse with Dragon Age DLC and the abuse from Origins store , if you need only 200 points for to buy some dlc that you want you must buy 800 or 1600 points!!! crazy!! and worse they forget to give you the points (happened to me) :(

Sorry Bioware (i am a fan of NWN2 and Baldur's Gate) but no Steam no buy from me. Also you abuse the customers the customers will abuse you. This time i will break some SOPA laws >:3

Really ? well, that's not the case anymore. You can buy 400pts, or 560 (which is convenient, since many bioware dlc are 400 or 160 pts, or even 560.)
It could be better, for sure, but it's not as bad as needing 1600pts for a 200pts dlc.

Julie5231d ago

Aloren here i see 800 points and 1600 points:

http://store.origin.com/sto...

Nothing else

im_right5231d ago

Points is a scam just use real money like on PSN XD.

Aloren5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

@Julie
Well, you should use social.bioware.com.
Log in, and in your profile, you can add bioware points, and you can choose 400, 560, 800, or 1600pts.
It's pointless to use origin to buy the points anyway, since you can't get the DLCs there.

Julie5231d ago

Ah ya i know but Social.bioware.com only accepts credit cards from USA :(

Aloren5231d ago

I think you can also use paypal though. But if it doesn't work and your only option is to buy 800pts through origin, then I understant why you would be mad...

Wow now I have to buy figurines to get DLC that's probably already on disc. Sweet....

grahf5232d ago

Just because it is on the disc doesn't mean they have to give it to you. We live in the age of DLC, its not changing any time soon. Whether it is a Mountain Dew (Double XP for MW3) or Dr. Pepper (DLC Code for ME2), or now an action figure (in the same vein as Skylanders), as long as it is profitable the big publishers will keep pushing the limits.

Think bottom line, my friend.

aPerson5232d ago (Edited 5232d ago )

That doesn't make it okay. It's a shady form of business and it needs to stop before it completely ruins the gaming industry.

grahf5232d ago

I never said it was ok, did I Disagreers? I hate it, I'm just telling it like it is. The only way it will stop is if it becomes unprofitable for them, which it won't because it costs them little to nothing to produce DLC in the vein of apparel, and they enter into marketing agreements with other big companies (beverage, toy, etc) which in the current market equates to win/win for both.

Burying your head in the sand and pouting won't make it go away. Vote with your hard earned (or stolen for some of you! =D ) $$cash money$$ and spread the word.

Pintheshadows5232d ago

Just because it is on the disc doesn't mean they have to give it to you.

I agree with you entirely apart from that sentence. It is called DOWNLOADABLE content after all.

Hassassin5231d ago

@grahf I know a way to make DLC non-profitable... just pirate all the DLC you did not get. They screw us, we screw them (not litellary... :S).

grahf5231d ago

Easy there, Hassassin Dotcom. Pirating isn't the answer. Just don't buy the DLC. Heck, don't buy the game retail, buy it used or second hand minus DLC, that hurts game publishers' bottom line more than buccaneer activity.

Collectively, we as WORLD CONSUMERS have a lot more power than we think we do. We're led to believe that we NEED products that we really don't. A lot of those products are really cool and innovative. Most aren't, but corporations are willing to throw BILLIONS each year into radio & TV waves, data to your phone or computer, or signs plastered on busses and taxis just sway your dollar vote. We see it every couple years around election time, when every other commercial is a message for/against a candidate. If people would think for themselves, and do what they think is right with their dollar votes, and spread the word about why they don't think a particular business model is good for an industry, then that will do a lot more than "Just steal their shit." (<- exageration)

Skate-AK5231d ago

Yeah but there is a HUGE difference between the two. For Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper I only have to buy a $2 soda to get the content. To get this Mass Effect 3 stuff I have to buy a $18 statue. Technically if I want the compete game I have to spend $136 to get all eight pieces of DLC. That's not even counting the DLC they will release post launch. On top of that the Collectors Edition has DLC packaged in it that could possibly be exclusive to it. I'm not sure . Collectors Edition is $80. So now that's $216 for a 100% complete game. Hah and people say $60 is too much.

Aloren5231d ago

It's probably just a weapon or a skin for a weapon for that character... I seriously doubt it's anything more significant than the countless preorders bonuses we see nowadays.

FrightfulActions5232d ago

Now that's rather depressing. It's cool that they have a line of decent-quality 'action figures' (toys, some would say) inline for it, since some people like that, but exclusive ingame content? Now if this is bonus is the equivalent to getting a characters "Loyality Skin" like in Mass Effect 2, early without having to finish their mission to unlock it, that wouldn't be so bad. But if this is going to include content held on the disc that cannot be obtained through ANY other means other than purchasing these figurines, I can't help but feel like I'm being spit on for being a fan.

Was ordering Collectors Edition not enough? Bad enough they force PC players to use Origin, or that they're offering exclusive content to preorders that isn't even found on the more expensive "ultimate fan package" collectors edition of the game.

If these little "bonuses" these toys give isn't at least obtained by shopping, then it truly looks like I'll never experience EVERYTHING the game has to offer because there's no way Im spending probably 30 dollars on some plastic toy that likely wont even stand up right and will be falling over whenever you walk by. Hopefully these freebies will be released in some type of package deal so players can opt to buy just them. Not a big fan of paying for content thats already on the disc, nor is anyone, but it'd be better than being forced to either buy the expensive toy or go without.

anast527d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine527d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast527d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman527d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier
