Bing Rewards Xbox Gamers

In addition to making Bing searchable on your Xbox 360, the gnomes over at Microsoft have added some rewards to the use and loyalty program for the browser in the hopes of convincing Xbox gamers to make it their go-to source for game info on the web by offering them LIVE and games-related prizes in exchange for their use of the service.

How-why does MS feel the need to create incentives for XBL users to use Bing when its the only search engine that they can use on the XBox?

maawdawg5250d ago (Edited 5250d ago )

Probably because you can earn the points by using Bing as your earch engine on your PC then use those points towards getting points on your XBL account, completely ignoring it on the Dashboard altogether.

Basically, you can get 13 Bing Rewards points a day pretty quickly just doing some random searches. That means if you did it every day you would get 100 XBL points about every 10 days. If you were doing it pretty religiously you could get 3500-4000 XBL points a year for free, which would cost about $50.

Even if you don't do it every day or actively do it the rewards pile up over time, just by swapping search engines while browsing. I have been doing it for a while now and ended up with Bastion and some other XBL Indie games free because of it. I figure if you are going to be doing net searches anyway you might as well get something out of it in the end.

I jumped in and have earned quite a few points ever since. Not only that, Bing is actually really good at bringing up the relevant results that Google USED to do.

I have since tried searching on google and while I may get the results, it is littered with all sorts of unrelated results as well. Google maps is still the best however as well as translate.

The incentive is NOT to use Bing on Xbox 360, but to use Bing on PC.

There is no "search engine usage reward" on console.

I have collected 800 pts so far for doing these daily searches on bing

I also have my wife searching on her computer and then emailing me the code when she hits 125 bing points, its like 200 points every 10 days, its awesome

dammit it says not available outside US
what if i use a proxy? ;d

Most likely your bing account will be suspended, I did this back in the days when they allowed you more points on daily basis. Now it kinda sucks if u do it alone, you need at least 3-4 family members or friends on separate computers. Swagbucks is a lot better.

Finally some good news for 360 owners. A rewards program that is exactly what it was missing. It just made bing popular for rewarding people for searching and getting microsoft points they can use on the xbox marketplace

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
