25 multiplatform monsters: 2012 gaming preview, part 3

The Globe and Mail: In the first two posts of this 2012 preview package we looked at software coming to specific systems, and many of these exclusives deserve some excitement. However, multiplatform releases will deliver most of the coming year’s video game magic.

With six or seven years of experience developing for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and porting these games to PC), many studios are primed to pump out high quality software for current generation hardware. This is one of the reasons we see annual instalments in popular franchises like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed (both of which are on track to receive new entries next fall), and why 2012 could prove the most bountiful year for multiplatform gaming yet.

25 generic monsters

the best titles every year are exclusives

bottom line

Captain Qwark 95265d ago (Edited 5265d ago )

the bottom line is that is your opinion and one i couldnt disagree more with.

imo the best titles are multiplats by far

Dark souls
Skyrim
Batman
Ass Creed
mass effect 2 ( ps3 )
dead space 2
mortal kombat
MVC
deux ex
BF3
COD

im sure im missing a few but those games are better than almost any exlusives last year, not saying the exclusives were bad but those games top most of them ( lbp 2, ratchet, gears, halo anni., etc )

this year wont be any different
max payne 3
ssx
kingdom of amalur
armored core 5
resident evil opp RC
DMC
ninja gaiden 3
mass effect 3

once again just to name a few....

nice generic list there

but

uncharted
zelda
kirby
infamous
disgaea 4
tactics ogre psp
legend of heroes psp
dissidia 2

and more
Prove you wrong

Captain Qwark 95265d ago (Edited 5265d ago )

lmao im nt sure you even know what genric is man but for the record...

a : relating to or characteristic of a whole group or class

c : having no particularly distinctive quality or application

now lets look at your list....

uncharted - as genirc as a third person shooter comes, only thing setting it apart is its cinematic presentation, oh wait you can find similar quality in any rockstar game

zelda - unique gameplay but dated, gameplay hasnt changed in 2 decades, and it has about 1 million previous entries making each entry less and less unique

kirby - see above

infamous - open world, 3rd person game where your character has POWERS!!!! soooooo original

disgaea 4 - never played

tactics ogre psp - never played

legend of heroes psp - never played

dissidia 2 - never played

of the ones i have played and can comment on, there is nothing unique or original about those game anymore, not saying their bad, in fact theyre good too, but they can just as easily be classified as generic these days too. and as far as quality of the ones i listed, maybe theyre not original or unique either but theyre damn good and i enjoyed all of them way more than uncharted, zelda, or kirby

@slade

That's ridiculous. Multiplatform games can be great aswell.

I'm glad to see Lollipop Chainsaw get a mention. Looks like my XBox 360 will be busy this year.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast557d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine557d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast557d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman557d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast556d ago

He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.
