Twisted Metal To Include PSN Pass

TGH Writes: "Twisted Metal the upcoming game from Eat Sleep Play is set to release in only a few short weeks. Back in December David Jaffe, the creator of Twisted Metal said how he did not want the game to have an online pass. We got a chance to get our hands on a near-final build of the game this year at the Sony booth during the 2012 International CES and speak with QA Lead, Justin Trease."

Wonder how Jaffe feels about it...

CarlitoBrigante5283d ago

Online pass issues are only for cheapazzes who can't afford new games. If you were interested in this game you would buy it new, showing your support and appreciation for a game.

I dont care if it has online pass, I will buy it and play the shit out of this great game!

fossilfern5283d ago

Cheapasses? What about the people who have been put out of a job, like myself ? I have to tighten the belt now when it comes to games :/

BabyTownFrolics5283d ago

fossilfern

according Senor Carlito Brigante you are human scum and do not deserve to even look at the PS3 let alone play it. Having financial difficulties is a punishment from God.

oye carlitio I heard benny blanco from the bronx wants a word with you

lodossrage5283d ago

@fossil

I can understand your pain in all that with the regard of having to tighten the belt, job loss, etc.

But at the same time, you can't expect a company to just sit there and say "well since you took a hit, we'll take a hit also."

Hell, I'm a working man myself and I wish things could be cheaper as well. But the reality is, they aren't.

If they feel used game sales potentially offset new games sales, then from a business standpoint, they're going to try to fend against that. Because if they don't, they can find themselves out of a job right along with you.

If you're worried about cash though, I can teach you some online ways I used to get some extra $$$ coming in. Just PM me about it if you want

CarlitoBrigante5283d ago (Edited 5283d ago )

@fossilfern: I'm sorry to inform you, but if you were a dedicated gamer you would own 2 jobs to afford everything PS3. Ken Kuturagi is always right, and if I have to own 3 jobs to afford a PS4, then so be it.

@BabyTownFrolics:

Benny Blanco: Hey, my name is Benny Blanco from the Bronx.
Carlito: You know me?
Benny Blanco: Yeah, I know you, you're Carlito Brigante motherfker to the max, that's who you are!
Carlito: Well, I don't know you. So, I don't owe you, Saso does. My place now, new rules. Everybody pays, okay?

btw fossil, just a joke man, sorry to hear it.

AntoineDcoolette5283d ago

What about people who like to rent games to see if they'd like it before splurging for the full price? Because of this no one will be able to sample twisted metal's online through a rental.

jukins5283d ago

@fossilfern sorry about your situation but honestly if $10 is gonna make/break you then I wouldnt be worried at all about buying games.

BrutallyBlunt5283d ago

Moral of the story is this, Sony calls the shots not Jaffe.

DasBunker5283d ago

since economy is down the toilet at the moment and money is tighter for most of us they should give us the game for free right? right?

how about you stop your gaming luxury till you get your priorities straight?

Inzo5283d ago

Please STFU, not every ones dad buys their games for them kid, some of us actually have to work for our money and some of us cant afford to sit around doing nothing and still get an allowance from our daddy.

ReservoirDog3165283d ago

Oh what a great disuse of the name from the great movie Carlito's Way...

You sound like a kid if you think everyone out there can use their money so freely. We have a very expensive hobby and it's hard for some people to afford all that.

I like buying new when possible but I know it's not that easy all the time.

thedude445283d ago (Edited 5283d ago )

one word: recession is why people cannot afford new games. im still getting this game though, all of the twisted metal games were amazing.

I'm buying this first day of release. It's funny that people get upset because the developers want to get as much money as they can.

Ducky5283d ago

Its not the developpers, it's the publishers.

dark-hollow5283d ago

thats why he said rent twisted metal.

jaffe *trollface.jpg*

Nitrowolf25283d ago

I thought he said to rent it cause of the single player. Meaning f your only into the single player then rent the game

AKA5283d ago

You guys seem to not understand the real problem here is not debs making easy money here but it's controling you, making you be a sheep by taking away the freedom little by little, we will reach to a point where you can only buy te game digitaly and only you can play it at you house and will have to pay extra for playing online by the hr and the ps27 will detect who is playing by having sensor and by that time you body will be force by brainwash propaganda to wear a chip to be able to do anything social, like for example even borning or buying food.

I think most of you should take out your head of of your a$$$ and start getting mad and doing something else been aware and pass the information to aware others.

Dirint you guys saw the hackers hack this and many other site giving you a video to watch? Yeah that was no joke and if you took it like it don't it's a huge deal anything is a huge deal and people that are saying is just a online pass pay for it well it's not just that.

Colwyn5283d ago

AKA -

" You guys seem to not understand the real problem here is not devs making easy money here but it's controling you, making you be a sheep by taking away the freedom little by little"

Sony can not force you to buy their games or do anything. You are screaming about freedom but you live in a free country where you decide what to buy and when to buy it. No one is holding a cannon to your head and forcing you to do anything.

What's in playstations best interest is in GAMERS best interest. If they make enough money selling a game with quality then you can expect a sequel or something similar. If someone doesn't want to buy the game because Sony doesn't want to lose money in the used game market then they're free to do so.

Thatguy-3105283d ago

Its normal that many are struggling and I understand that but don't be selfish and knock down the game just because it comes with an online pass. Being a multiplayer game it was obvious that this was going to occur. I have always been pro-psn pass just because i'm supporting developers that make games that I enjoy so shelling out 60$ is nothing. Don't expect developrs to take a shot or feel pitty just because you cant come up with the cash. SIKED for the return of this series :)

Cool I won't be buying this game anyway.

CarlitoBrigante5283d ago

This game is too cool for you, go back playing with your trainz

Prcko5283d ago

buying day 1,don't care about password.
I gonna colse myself 14th in house, take chips cola and play all day long, can't w88 for fun fun fun

sxbrady5283d ago

Im glad your happy. Please use grammar next time!

ElliePage5283d ago

And that's the nail in the coffin. First, ruining Mr. Grimm with the new crappy design and limiting characters in story mode now it has an online pass.

Pikajew5283d ago

Jaffe had an interview and said he took away characters because you almost never seen them and made the cars better.
Skip to 15:30 for the interview http://www.youtube.com/watc...

MariaHelFutura5283d ago

You're comments are annoying....

Drekken5283d ago

ALL SONY GAMES HAVE AN ONLINE PASS. Don't act surprised or disgusted. It's how it is... sell your PS3 if you don't like it.

Sony publishes it, it will have a pass.

Every 360 online game requires a paid subscription. I would much rather a free online pass required when I purchase a game then a monthly payment.

Vega755283d ago

XBL IS $60 A YEAR WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MONTHLY.

lodossrage5283d ago (Edited 5283d ago )

It depends on how you buy it.

Sure enough you can get those 3 month deals and year deals (which would be the smart way to do it)

But there is a monthly that goes at $9.99 for those that aren't deal smart lol

I don't even have live anymore and I remember that.

Edit: Ok,found the link.

spacedelete5283d ago

that is an extremely ignorant thing to say. so people who don't like their houses should sell them and live on the streets ? or say someone doesn't like their life are they suppose to kill themselves ?

think before you post because it just makes you sound like a bitter, ignorant troll.

lodossrage5282d ago

lol I see disagrees. Yet I don't see anyone proving me wrong.

So I won't see you online playing? Awww.....too bad...:( /s

GraveLord5283d ago

Yeah because online passess affect game sales...LOL!
If anything it affects used games sales which only Gamestop cares about.

Uncharted 3 was a massive success and that had an online pass.

Stop being so cheap. If you can't afford a $10 online pass, you should find a new hobby. I'll be here buying my game new supporting my favorite developers and getting this online pass for free.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8571d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele70d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla70d ago (Edited 70d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk70d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay70d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 70d ago
Athlon10171d ago (Edited 71d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit70d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg70d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10170d ago (Edited 70d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14971d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle83d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker84d ago (Edited 84d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit83d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog84d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_84d ago (Edited 84d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog84d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad84d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_84d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage84d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda83d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
