It's gotta be, there's no way a forward-thinking publisher like Activision wouldn't have something in the pipeline, however rudimentary it is.

Dailynch5114d ago

Yeah, but think about it, it's a next-gen COD. Yahoo!!

chaldo5114d ago

Yeah I can see it now...

They finally make it on a new engine and keep it on the same engine for the next 20 years.

miDnIghtEr20C_SfF5114d ago

Next gen Xbox, with a launch of a new next gen COD, along with a Gears and a Halo = Another great generation for the Xbox family!

Make it happen MS!

ginsunuva5114d ago

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not

Cosmit5114d ago

I don't see what the problem is. CoD, Gears, and Halo on Next are excellent games. Get that fanboyism out of here.

RememberThe3575114d ago

Yeah, I don't agree with your preference in games, so your such a fanboy!

/s

Get THAT outta here.

MurDocINC5114d ago

Yep, gotta squeeze that fruit while it's still ripe!

Lazy_Sunday5114d ago (Edited 5114d ago )

It will have the visual power of Crysis 2 at 60FPS.
With the graphical milking of CoD 4-8. Yep, we're on 8.
Suprised? Maybe.
Depressed? A little.

I don't think so. Usually IW and Treyarch feed from each other with each release so I doubt the next game will feel next gen let alone look next gen.

jdktech20105114d ago

What are you smoking? They don't even act like each other exists....I guarantee the only reason there's a theater mode in MW3 is Activision forced it.

Traditionally, they treat it like the other company doesn't exist...at least from what I've seen

Hufandpuf5114d ago

Then why does each iteration feel the same?

Joe29115114d ago

It doesn't. MW3 feels like MW2 and CoD4. BO felt like W@W (slightly better imo than W@W).

JeffGUNZ5113d ago

@ hufandpuf

I agree with JDKTech2010. IW's COD's feel much different and much more fluid then Tryarchs. I can easily tell who made which game. Activision forces the similarities dues to the series, but each developer has their unique signature to each game.

jdktech20105113d ago

Exactly and the games by each developer are the same...there's no denying they both need more innovation but they are not the same game year in and year out completely.

I'm actually looking forward to see what Treyarch does...otherwise it might spell the end of COD for me because I'm about to trade in MW3 after 15 hours....had some fun but overall just not a good game

fluffydelusions5114d ago

It will probably look like the current PC version of COD at high settings or something

Cosmit5114d ago

Treyarch games from Infinity Ward games are noticeably different. If you would actually play them you'll notice the difference.

Hufandpuf5114d ago (Edited 5114d ago )

they may look different but they play exactly the same.

And yes, I've played EVERY COD game and the only one that's any good is COD4

filipakos5114d ago

i dont know about next-gen cod but next-gen battlefield came earlier than we expected

FACTUAL evidence5114d ago

It did? Many says it's worse than BC2...

NiKK_4195114d ago

I know I prefer BC2 on consoles at least.

OcularVision5114d ago

BC2 just had that addictive flare to it. BF3 takes itself too seriously, but hey, some people like that too.

bigboss9115114d ago

Call of duty 5 on a modified version of Id tech's new engine. Thats what I want to see.

ginsunuva5114d ago

The current cods are on a modified version of Id Tech's Quake 2 engine lol

bigboss9115114d ago

Thats why I said that. It shouldn't be too hard to transition to it.

i_da_pappy5114d ago

Not gonna be any different from the cod's of this gen

Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.

Microsoft needs to listen or risk irreparable harm to Call of Duty

Windows Central: "The money may keep rolling in, but Microsoft is the custodian of one of the biggest selling video game series in history. If something doesn't change, I fear we'll reach a breaking point and irreparable damage will have been done."

Because ms is so good at managing studios, surely they will get it right

:P

franwex51d ago

In my view, they should probably merge MP with Warzone and essentially make it free to play like Halo Infinite. The campaign/zombies mode can be $30 yearly DLC. I know this would be insanity as most COD players essentially pay the full price of the game simply for the MP. However-with a shrinking player base they may have to consider it. Making it free would bring in a ton of players.

Profchaos51d ago

To late MW3 should have been a lesson but here we are two years later with a steaming pile a shite called blops7

Nothing lasts forever, eventually something will come along to make people forget about COD

Halo killer once arrived and technically call of duty killer also arrived, its name is Fortnite

dveio51d ago

Call of Duty was riding the revenue horse and charts for ~20 years. Whether undeserved or deserved.

But I endorse everyone to remind you that Microsoft could have decided differently when they took it over.

The money was certainly there, and they could have taken their time revamping the franchise:

Current-gen tech, manageable microtransactions, not imitating Fortnite and returning to core values of the franchise's origin.

They didn't.

Let's see next year. Hopefully without the then 13 years old PS4 and One hardware.

blacktiger51d ago

you need to stop saying "let see next year"

We almost got a third-person horror CoD set in Vietnam, but instead we just got more Modern Warfare

Sledgehammer's first game was killed so Modern Warfare 3 could be finished.

XiNatsuDragnel140d ago

I remember this and I wish we got more gameplay of this

DaniMacYo138d ago

I would have preferred this actually not enough Vietnam settings out there.

Snookies12138d ago

I adored Battlefield Bad Company 2's Vietnam expansion. Sucks to hear this was scrapped for CoD. I haven't touched CoD since Modern Warfare 2 came out. (The original one.) I would have definitely checked that out though.

GamingSinceForever138d ago

No such thing as horror when equipped with the type of weaponry in a COD game. 😂

chicken_in_the_corn137d ago

Hope they revisit the idea. A 3rd person CoD could be good.
