Jesus christ enough of these articles already. I think SE know by now how badly fans want this (myself not included btw) so I really don't think it needs any more publicity.

At this point we've said enough, they might decide to make it or they might not. Leave it be.

It wasn't that good. It was revolutionary, but there were better FF games made after (9, 10, 12). Unless they cheap out and make it an overhead 'open world' game, I doubt they'd even start. Do you know how big that game would have to be? All the animations and such that would have to be coded for? All the cutscenes that would have to be remade? All the things that would have to be re-rendered?

They weren't joking when they said it'd take YEARS. Frankly, even suggesting this is basically saying "We don't trust you to make a new game so just remake an older one, you know, when you used to be good" (Even though that is kinda true)

I would love for Square to remake this, but I can understand why they wont.

But why not compromise and make a FF7-2? That way the fans kinda get what they want and Square doesn't risk ruining one of the best rpgs ever made!

BTW ... howabout a remake or sequel for FF6 & Chrono Trigger too!

I just want a nice modern game with FF7 type gameplay, I don't care if it's a remake or not. I mean the load times should be instant and fast into battle with current gen consoles and maybe they could add a triple triad game thats playable online that would be sweet..

They should wait until technology catches up with everyone's expectations. I personally don't want a remake unless it can resemble advent children. Imagine those visuals with the same story, set pieces and characters from the original FFVII.

I wouldn't trust square remaking FF7, if they wanted to remake it they better bring back the original staff and I wonder how they would bring sakaguchi back to the fold.

I'm not a big fan of remakes to begin with, I liked FF7 because of the memory I had when I was first playing but who's to say I'd get that feeling again from a remake?

No make new games. I dont mind handheld remakes, ds had ff3 and 4, hopefully the 3ds gets 5 and 6 but im not sure on 7-9. Maybe on a handheld like the 3ds (or vita but id prefer 3ds) where they could just add some shaders and textures like zelda oot 3d. I dont think it needs a console release and that would take a whole gen for SE anyways. Honestly the only reason people treat 7 like a perfect game is nostalgia. Its a great game but theres better games id rather have remade like xenogears, chrono trigger, ff6. Just make a new ff so good people forget about 7.

No. Make a new game on the roots of the older FF titles with modern twists. I am sick of companies like Square-Enix fixing what wasn't broken and then relying on remakes of entire old games to stay profitable. This is telling us Square-Enix cannot make good new games anymore. Move on and focus on improving your games, Square-Enix, your company and your games are turning to shit. Stop living in the glory days of FFIV. We've already played that game before. No need to remake that same game 5 times.

They should put out the first 7 FF on a single DVD for all consoles. The first 6 are simple ports and the 7th was only 3 CDs in size. I would buy that for $40 no problem.

Think of square as the master and the consumers as loyal dogs ( don't mean any offense by it, just simple analogy, maybe not even a good one). They have the bait, bacon aka FF7, and we want it really bad whenever we hear it we wag our tails. However, this master is a sadistic one, instead of giving us what we really want (bacon), we get those nasty dried up dog treats that not even cats (xbox owners, lol jk) would wanna chew on.
We will get our bacon the moment we stop wagging our tails and showing interest, because then, the master (Square) will be eager to please us just so we can continue on this sadistic relationship.

I would prefer a new great final fantasy than a remake.

Before I proceed, let me just remind you about the definition of remaking an old game. The remaking process of an old game mainly rely on improving the graphical representation of the game and updating them up to current standards. Other than that, the story will remain the same and creativity involvement of the remaker is almost close to nothing.

A remake of FFVII will make some heads roll in Square Enix. Just imagine how a remake of an old game will outsell all the garbage Square Enix have been doing since FF10 combined.
What the current bosses at Square Enix are trying to show to their superiors is that they are able to make better games and that what they are making sells well and when their superiors question them about the decline in sales compared to previous years, they will just say that the market for such genres is dying.

This is why Square Enix will never do a remake of a game that has been made by Square Soft or Square, except for 8bit/16bit games.
This is why Square Enix always keep doing FF7 titles that are not the remake of the original game, because the original game didn't involve Square Enix broken creativity.

This is why Square Enix is thinking about doing a remake of FFX which is the best they have ever done, but no where near the best of the series.

A successful remake of FF7 or FF8 will show the world that Square Enix are terrible clowns.

I played ff7 one night,and i was so into the game and was shock when glancing at the clock it was already 6am in the morning haha,sweet memories :).FF7 remake hmmmm,for me the ff advent children movie was enough for me but if they do a remake only three words to say 'just bring it' :)

The real issue for SE is the scale of FF7 & the costing required to create the quality required for this/next gen. They should remake FF7 & to keep up the quality make it in 2 or 3 installments (as I don't think they could afford to do it any other way )

I have *always* had mixed feelings about it. But as I age (37 now) I am finding that I want a remake less and less. Yes, it's hard to play the original with it's blocky, early-3D graphics and midi music, but it still has the heart it always did for me.

But let's look at the other RPG from 97 that means a lot to me: Wild Arms. These 2 games got me into RPG's in the first place. Some years ago, I accidentally ran across some article that said that Wild Arms had in fact, been remade, and was called Alter Code: F. I had never heard it was even coming out. I of course went right out and found it used the next day.

It's so similar to the original, with remixed music, full PS2 graphics and the same art style and all. Exactly what a lot of fans want for FFVII. But for some reason, I still to this day have not finished Alter Code: F. I don't really know why, but it just didn't feel as good or as fun as the original.

So yeah, I am wary of a FFVII remake. A lot.

I think they should simply redo the graphics, & add voice overs, leave everything else the same, release it on ps vita, then watch the vita sales sky rocket, just my opinion

I didn't play this on the original Playstation, but I did buy the steam version after hearing about the amazing mods that are available. Square Enix definitely made the right decision to re-release this game on multiple platforms decades after release.

I am still wishing for the day Nintendo releases the original Pokemon Red and Blue on mobile with online features.

Edit: I am also looking forward to the day Square Enix ports FFX to mobile.
