All of 3 peripherals have their advantages..

Kinect is the best overall family device and is best with games that require full body motion.

Kinect Sports, Dance Central, Fitness Evolved.

I like how the article acknowledged how within one year Kinect move from Wii's territory to moving into it's own w/ Child of Eden, GunSlinger, etc.

Move's marquee game was the excellent Sports Champions. It shines when you purchase a nav and sa sharpshooter.

It essential bridged two worlds...the lightgum world that Sony dominated in the Guncon days (please Point Blank HD collection Sony please) and the FPS world due to the addition of the controller or Nav. I rember back in the day Capcom tried to pull games like this off with Resident evil.

It works..especially for Killzone 3. But I thought it was interesting that the site mentioned that Goldeneye with Move is good as well (might have to pick that up)

What they didn't note about Move was there are games it competes directly with Wii's best. Tiger Woods 12 and both Top Spin 4 & Virtual tennis 4. You can argue the controls (as Wii has always had great Tiger games), but the graphical upgrade over the Wii is where Move has the advantage.

During the holidays I saw the $49 Move bundle in Walmart. That is incredible.

Wii will always be Wii..what will be interesting is if Wii-U still relies heavily on Wii-motes then both Kinect and Move will still be extremely relavant come holiday 2013.

The fudge!! Look at how many Kinect games there are!! 17 Kinect exclusives this year alone!! Vs 3 for X360. :(

Cocozero5172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

Kinect grew considerably in the holidays, while Move and Wii decreased, pretty much explains it.

Kinect will likely explode next year with a price cut, star wars and all those 'hardcore' games.

kneon5172d ago

It's had frequent sale prices the past few months. I've often seen it for $99 standalone or $199 bundled with a 4gb 360.

Depends how you look at it really. The sharpshooter revolutionised the Move for FPS (for me) and has made it my preferred choice of play. The Move hasn't sold a huge amount but it hasn't undersold. It really needs some move only games and family games that families want.

Kinect sold very well at the start. Not sure what the post Christmas number are but I assume it isn't going to massively under sell. It seems to really appeal to a good demographic (family).

Zelda also is a good game for motion controls.

LOGICWINS5172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

Sharpshooter is GREAT! I had my friends over a couple days ago and they were anxious to try it, but eventually came away disappointed. They said its too "realistic" and the Dualshock 3 is better. Kind of dumb to be honest. How can you compare a control scheme that you have over a decade of experience with(DS3) to a motion control scheme that you screwed around with for only ten minutes(Move and Sharpshooter)?

EVILDEAD3605172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

I'm with you on this one Logic..

I think that it takes getting used to and has a learning curve.

The only issue is it takes a little bit of time to get in and mess around with setting. You have to search forums for the best settings out there for each game.

I'm thinking of trying that hand gun peripheral as well.

Yeah, I searched a Youtube vid and found the perfect settings for me. As far as KZ3 is concerned, setting everything to 0 and jacking up the turn speed to 100% seems to work fine for everyone whose tried my gun.

EVILDEAD3605171d ago

Bro thx a million. I'm going to try that today

I think the biggest problem for Move is that it is marketed at the wrong crowd:

1. Their motion games looks kinda serious, where as the "casual" crowd seem to prefer funny cartoon looking characters. People don't really care about graphics or they wouldn't have played Iphone games like Angry bird, fruit ninja, days in and days out etc...
2. Promoting use of move with games like KZ, Resistance, instead of casual family games aren't helping Sony broaden their gamer base either. They already have the "hardcore crowd" so where are the casuals?

Another problem is that it looks similar to Wii mote so it could be hard to differentiate them. People not gonna buy something again if they think they already have it.

Between MS and Sony, I think MS really did their homework; at least when it comes to dissociating itself from the Wii shadow.

iamnsuperman5170d ago (Edited 5170d ago )

I agree to an extent. Some games like Sport Championship miss the charm and seems a quite serious game than a fun family game ( tho I did enjoy it when I played it). The whole stigma of motion controls are for the casual need to change as move is demonstrating some good controls but us hardcore are reluctant to change. I enjoy Move but I know it needs more family games that have character and one or two serious core motion only games to get the hardcore interested. Ones that is achieved they have the games to keep the move relevant (KZ, Socom, Infamous and more).

NovusTerminus5172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

Move would get a big boost IF Sony would try to market a serious sword based game on it. Something akin to Dark Souls / Zelda.

I know shooters support the Move, but I prefer sword games, and a serious tone. And the Gladiator game is Sports Champions showed allot of potential in that market.

user8586215172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

Kinect got a lot of support, lots of exclusive games, as well as an announcement of future franchises adapting to it (tom clancy, ea sports)

Move got SOME patches at first and then it was simply forgotten.... what happened to uncharted 3, resistance 3 and infamous 2, skyrim would've been an obvious choice but I guess sony don't really care?

kneon5172d ago

Resistance 3 and Infamous 2 both support Move. As for Skyrim that would be difficult being a multi-platform title, Sony would have had to shovel a wad of cash and support to get Move support in Skyrim.

PlayStation Move Controller Used to Perform Surgery on a Pig That Was 5,780 Miles Away

A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.

jznrpg501d ago

There is at least a few good jokes that could come from that title

Cacabunga500d ago

Yet another powerful device Sony gave up supporting. KZ3 move was one of the best motion controller implementation ever

just_looken500d ago

Right the ps move was awesome i have the gun thing from killzone still.

Relientk77501d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.

Lexreborn2500d ago

Guess that submarine should’ve used move controllers instead of logitech
