Hackers take down Super Meat Boy servers

NGN: "It seems it's a bad idea to ignore warnings from users about your game's security. As developers behind Super Meat Boy found out today, these threats can turn very real and impact your customers.

Super Meat Boy World has been taken down by an alleged member of the Anonymous hacking group, after he was brushed off by the developers when trying to reveal a potential security flaw."

LOL!

First rule of not getting hacked, is being humble and listen especially if somebody tells you about a security vulnerability.

Blaine5249d ago

These hackers are fucking retarded. It's nice to warn devs and companies of security flaws, I guess. But when YOU'RE the only one who's going to abuse those flaws in the first place, maybe you should just SFTU, keep that shit to yourself, and NOT hack them yourselves. No one else was going to do it, why did you have to, with all your "good intentions"? Idiots...

ThirstyforFanta5249d ago

You're retarded.. This hacker tried to warn him from OTHER hackers because if he can hack then they sure can..
This douchebag developer didn't listen and thought he was right and the hacker proved how wrong he was.
Good job

Smokeeye1235249d ago

Why would anyone hack the site though? That's like if someone came to your home and said your home was not tank proof and you laughed it off and said, "Oh I don't think I'll have to worry about that." And then the guy walked down the street, got into a tank and destroyed your home.

Useless point that doesn't need to be proven.

anony-mouse5249d ago

I'm sorry, but saying that the hacker gave him warning doesn't justify him doing a malicious thing to the company. Finding a weak self-justification for a bad action doesn't make you any less of a jerk for doing it. Yes, the hole was there in the security. Yes, the developer replied in a very lazy and kind of pompous way. Yes, the hacker is still a schmuck for hacking into the server.

gamingdroid5249d ago

@anony-mouse
I agree that hacking him was uncalled for, but at the same time do you want your information released to the malicious public because people are irresponsible?

My take it on this is different than yours since it is a public server i.e. stored public information and therefore exposed to public actions. In my opinion this was for the greater good and not really malicious.

Ironically, in this case two wrongs did make it right! ...well hopefully if Meat Boy team steps up that is!

Blaine5249d ago

@Thirsty

Did you just try to correct me by saying exactly what I said?

OBVIOUSLY he was warning them of other hackers. But then when he goes around and does it himself, then HE'S the problem, whether he warned them or not.

That's like saying the bad guy in Die Hard 4 was good because he warned the government first. Dumb reply deserves dumb example.

Aven Colony (Xbox One/Xbox Series)
Super Meat Boy (Xbox 360)

RpgSama1445d ago

This is just plain sad, they are basically charging you for online and that's it, I guess this goes hand in hand with the "tell me you only play AAA games without telling me you only play AAA games"

Both Gamepass and Gold games offerings have gone way downhill.

autobotdan1445d ago

Super Meat Boy was a Games with Gold title back in 2016..It's leftover Meat from 2016

Eonjay1444d ago (Edited 1444d ago )

So then GWG is like Spam.
And yes that was a double entendre.

franwex1445d ago

I actually really enjoyed Aven Colony when it was on Gamepass. I got it for free from Epic Store a few months back.

I’ll give it another go.

Such a great decade for video games

IMissJimRyan2318d ago

Rayman Legends for me is the winner.

SyntheticForm2318d ago

Plenty of greats, but Ori hands down for me.

Hollow Knight a close second.

NecrumOddBoy2318d ago

They put Celeste in the honorable mentions. Such a shame, this game is premium in platforming. Rayman is also def a 10/10 platformer.
