IGN - When Link is Dead

IGN - So, apparently, Link is dead.

I'm as surprised as anyone, as aside from some infrequent and quickly corrected Game Over screens over the years, my Link has never personally met that fate. My Link's always been brought briskly back to life – courtesy of a bottled fairy or the reset button – and he's always gone on to continue and complete his current quest.

MsclMexican5283d ago

So Link is dead huh?

Given the fact that the Legend of Zelda has the most complex story in a video game to date, Im not surprised.

Hell, I'd even believe that it was Tingle who took down Ganon.

blaaah5282d ago

Yeah well his soul is in a different body in almost every game.. he HAS to die sooner or later.. no big deal..

Pikajew5282d ago

Gordon Freemon has Link's soul because he cant talk

NukaCola5282d ago

The story isn't the most complex, it's the timeline is still such a mystery to us all. Even though some have made assumptions and theories that seem legit, until Nintendo clarifies, we will be mystified.

Soplox5281d ago

@NukaCola the timeline has just been revealed by Nintendo itself as part of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary

Tanir5282d ago (Edited 5282d ago )

u just made me crack the hell up. Lol!!!!!! zelda???? story complex???????????????

how bout lazy, un-imaginative and boring. You play the game because zelda is fun, there is very little story in zelda, its the same story as mario, and keeps having the same villain except in the hand held games.

they made up the Re-incarnated hero junk because they could be lazy, re use characters and enemies. Its only complex because people try to make sense of something that was never supposed to make sense in the first place. Come on, out of no where we have a zelda time line?

makes no sense, very few of the zelda games connect. I wish that the story would change, that it would progress. Sorta like Majora's mask or the DS games that kept the same wind waker link. But to just try something new with the same character is just plain lazy

trying to say zelda have a deep and complex story is like saying Mario and Dark/Demons Soul's has a complex deep story. All of these games are amazing great fun, but they do not have a story

StraightPath5282d ago (Edited 5282d ago )

lol @ your fail comment

TheGameFoxJTV5280d ago

Cool story. Too bad it's all total bullshit from someone who knows not what they speak of.

KwietStorm_BLM5282d ago

The most complex story in a game to date? Cmon man really.

theonlylolking5282d ago

"Legend of Zelda has the most complex story in a video game to date"

Only a fanboy of the Legend of Zelda would say a thing like that. Since it is not true.

Qrphe5282d ago

If by "complex" you mean a clusterfuzz of timelines then yes

So this is just a big "What If" article eh?

What if Samus was never found by the Chozo, what if Mario never got his plumbing apprenticeship, what is Master Chief died while in cryo, what if Donkey Kong choked on a banana.

Tarantino_Life5282d ago

Gears of War >>> zelda. Gears defined the games industry.. Gears of War has the deepest story known to Mankind.. Nolan is going to make a gears movie next..

Blacktric5282d ago

I take it Tarantino is too busy making a Forza movie?

NiKK_4195282d ago

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I hope you're not serious. If so, you haven't played anything besides gears of war. "Gears defined the games industry." Who can actually say that with a straight face?

TheGameFoxJTV5280d ago

I can't even tell if this is serious. XD

maniacmayhem5282d ago

so with this article and the big N's timeline shouldn't the name be changed to Legend of Link?

Because Link is doing a hell of a lot more than Zelda has done. Across different plains of reality also.

SilentNegotiator5282d ago

"Zelda" is too embedded into the brand recognition to change it now. It would be a foolish move.

But I see what you're saying. These games really are about Link, not Zelda.

How about the original Legend of Zelda remade with the Echoes of Wisdom engine. Maybe throw in added dungeons, or expand the map to make the game longer than the original.

meganick82d ago

A Zelda 1 remake would be great, but not with the Echoes of Wisdom art style. I find it unappealing.

Neonridr81d ago

I'd even suggest a Link to the Past as well. Would love a more modern HD look using the Links Awakening / Echoes engine.

jreeves8282d ago

I would like Twilight Princess HD for Switch or Switch 2.

A movie trailer, or nothing if Mario's was anything to go by

Link Should Talk, but Choose His Words Carefully in The Legend of Zelda Movie

Link should have a voice in The Legend of Zelda Movie. While he mostly stays quiet in the games, he canonically does speak but usually holds back on expressing his thoughts. In a movie format, it is better for the character and the story itself that Link speaks.

I just hope it's not a bunch MCU Snarky McJokeface dialog. Started playing veilguard free on PSN (would not recommend) and it's a perfect example of how dialog in contemporary entertainment is garbage.

Relientk77439d ago

It's gonna be Chris Pratt again lol

"It's a me Link"

I'd love a Zelda 2 remake/redo.
