LittleBigPlanet 2 was robbed! LBP2 is my favorite game of this generation so far.

I think LBP2, Rayman Origins, and Outland deserved to win more than Super Mario 3D Land.

Nah I think Mario was the right pick. I haven't actually played any game on that list but from what people were saying this mario was actually the best one ever made. EVER. Even better than mario 64 (which i did play). He truly is the king of platformers.

I would choose Rayman Origins over LBP2 only because of the perfect controls and platforming. Other than that, LBP2 is better than Mario Land, but we all know Mario will always win a free pass because of its reputation.

Note: Mario Land (and Mario in general) is a great game. They have always been, but this time Rayman Originas should have taken the crown.

I loved Rayman Origins. It was my 3rd favorite game of 2011 after LBP2 and UC3. Rayman Origins is the best 2D sidescroller I've ever played but there's no online co-op or user generated content in Rayman Origins.

I love LBP2 way more because it has endless content and I've been blown away many times by the story mode and the user generated games and especially the platforming levels. I've played LBP2 for 250+ hours so far and I'm nowhere near finished.

The controls in LBP2 are good enough. There are some really talented creators in LBP2, there are alot of levels in LBP2 I find extremely fun. The new PS Move compatible levels are pretty amazing. LBP2 is my favorite PS3 game and my favorite PS Move game. I hope Media Molecule make LBP3 eventually.

I do love LBP/LBP2, but the best platformer is Rayman Origins. The better game of the two is LBP2, but that is only because it's more than just a platformer. Everything about Rayman is refined to near perfection. It's the best platformer I've played since SMW.

I totally recommend you to play mario 3d first before judging it.
its a masterpiece!

Optical_Matrix5263d ago

You obviously haven't played Super Mario 3D Land, while I really enjoyed LBP2 and I loved what I played of Rayman Origins, which I'll be buying for PS Vita, Super Mario 3D Land was a masterful platformer. While Little Big Planet, in my opinion, is a far more content rich and ambitious game, the platforming mechanics are left in the dust by Super Mario 3D Land as they aren't as polished.

Where the heck is Ratchet and Clank?

BTW I'm not surprised of the winner...Mario = GOTY, no matter if there are other games that deserves more... :/

Sonic Generations deserves a nod, was a real return to form. I'm just about to start into Rayman - but I suspect Mario Land is the worthy champ.

Super Mario Odyssey Turns Seven - Ranking the 3D Mario Games

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "With the Switch getting on in years and the prospect of a new Nintendo console growing closer, now seems like an excellent time to take a look back at one of its mascot’s two big evolutionary lines, particularly since we now find ourselves in the longest wait ever between 3D Mario games. Today marks the seven year anniversary for the release of Super Mario Odyssey, and with no full new entry in sight, it comfortably beats the roughly six year wait between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, which should also be good news to anybody who broke a mirror that day.

3D Mario has delighted fans since 1996, maintaining an astonishing level of quality and bringing innovations not just to the 3D platformer genre, but gaming as a whole. Needless to say, it’s a hard task to rank a series where every entry is beloved, but I shall nevertheless undertake this risky venture with my head held high. Wish me luck."

One of the worst marios.. i hated the fact it was only about finding the moons and very repetitive with the same bosses. There is no exploration in this one.
Galaxy 2 is still unmatched

TiredGamer574d ago

I played, completed, and enjoyed Mario Odyssey, but I tend to agree that I don't think it's the best 3D Mario. There was sense of sameness that prevailed after the first couple of worlds... not in the levels, environments, or aesthetics, but in the routine of each world. It just felt like each new environment was just the beginning of another checklist of moons to acquire, and the sheer number of them took away the sense of accomplishment I got from the stars in Mario 64 and the like. I can't exactly put my finger on why that is. Galaxy gets my nod as the best one.

Cacabunga573d ago

I enjoyed it too but i won’t even place it in my top10 mario games.. as you said you are just looking for stars and that irritating music everytime you find one.
Also the bosses are pretty much the same from begging to end. I would have have like some koopalings instead of these dumb useless rabbits

Chocoburger574d ago

I played a little of this game and freakin' LOVED it! But I forced myself to stop because I hadn't played Galaxy 2, which I've been playing every day for the past week. Cripes, Galaxy 2 is way better than I expected it to be! Even though I dislike the Wiimote and nunchuck controls, and it annoyed me a lot with Galaxy 1, part 2 just feels better and slightly less gimmicky when it comes to the controls.

Profchaos574d ago

Sunshine at number 7 no way. I get it's not perfect but it deserves better to date there has not been another 3d Mario that's managed to capture that same movement it's the most acrobatic feeling Mario to date.

It's by and large better than 3d land/world and I'd argue that galaxy 2 didn't offer any trie innovation it was essentially a DLC pack to 1

Personally it's
1) Mario 64
2) Mario Sunshine
3) Mario galaxy
4) Mario Odyssey
5) galaxy 2
6) Bowser fury
7) 3d land/ world.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.
