After many, many, sub-par releases, NetherRealm Studios took a nod from Street Fighter IV and returned to its gloriously gory 2D roots. The end result is nothing short of a flawless victory for the franchise and for long-time fans alike.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂
