Toastervision Editor-in-Chief Dylan Sabin writes,"I have never played the original Tribes games. I know, I know, that makes me some kind of PC gaming heretic or something. When its first incarnation, Starsiege: Tribes launched way back in 1998, I was not really all on the up and up when it comes to playing shooters, let alone high-octane, jetpack oriented fragfests. As I slowly ingrained myself into the ideas of playing with a keyboard and mouse rather than a tired old console controller, I felt like this series was worth looking into, but never actually got around to taking the plunge.
Fast forward to PAX Prime in August, and I finally got my hands on Tribes: Ascend, the free-to-play rebirth being developed by Hi-Rez Studios and set to come out sometime next year (officially). I’ve been playing quite a bit of the game’s Closed Beta over the past couple weeks, and I have a few thoughts about what the game’s all about.
What it’s about is being TOTALLY FRIGGIN' AWESOME."

Online games have become the pastime of choice for everyone, no matter their age. And here's a list of the best free online games for 2017.
Back in March of 2013, Hi-Rez broke the news to its Tribes: Ascend fans that they would need to take several months away from the game in order to focus all its efforts on SMITE. Several months became more than two years, and fans were beginning to believe that Hi-Rez would simply never return to Tribes.
But the recent 1.1 update -- a.k.a. the Out of the Blue Update -- has proven those naysayers wrong.

If you thought Hi-Rez Studios were done with Tribes Ascend, think again. Today they are launching a major update to the free to play shooter that fans of the original games might just approve of.
Awesome game. Got a BETA key last month and been playing the hell out of it
