MMOs are set to steal your very soul. Not even just your soul, the essence that makes up that soul, which they will then process and turn into money and laugh, whilst sitting on big chairs and mocking you.
At least that’s what many people seem to believe MMOs, or more specifically World of Warcraft, is set out to do. To a degree, they’re right. MMOs aren’t your fancy, hold-your-hand games. They focus on turning your time spent into profitable game benefits. If you want to bear fruits in an MMO, you have to be ready to sacrifice a lot of time, sweat, blood and tears, and possibly family.
One game that may shake things up a bit, is Guild Wars 2.

I played it a little years ago. It was fun but I had children after I started playing and gave it up so my wife wouldn’t hate me. I got to 50 and then hung it up
Arenanet is doing smthn wrong with marketing, I never once seen an ad for a gw2 expansion and always hear it like this once an expac is already released. Not that I would play it cause I'm a gw1 purist haha

I hope u r right because this game looks fantastic. While swtor and gw2 made a move more towards wow, i can understand and find no fault. Ppl love something about wow. DICE Creator said that u don't beat cod by making a better cod but by making a better game. How did that work out? They created a better game (in all facets and by a mile in many IMO) but cod broke records again. If someone (cmon west and zampella) actually make a better cod, then they would steal ppl and maybe for good. Swtor is attempting this and with its awesome background story and environment already established lore in even non gamers Psyche, coupled w voice acting, they may pull many wow playerfot some time to come. And many will remain because it is so similar to wow. They don't have to learn again, just simply suit up and kick ass. GW2 mat be doing this too, as u write here, but it appears to set itself apart from what i have seen. And as i began, i will finish. I too hope they were able to strike a balance because, as we know, it isn't about making a better mmo, but a better wow. I think we may have two of those soon. But gamers are fickle, loyal to a fault, and frightened to steps out of their moms basement...er...i mean comfort zone.
