There is just no room for any other consoles anymore. And I don't think Sega could afford to do this anyway. What we have now is enough.

I forget who the sega president was at the time, but I remember he promised shenmue 2 as a "final gift" to all the loyal dreamcast owners who stuck with the company after the ps2 release. When he announced just a few weeks later that it would be an xbox exclusive and wouldn't be on the dreamcast, it pretty much signaled that the company was going to hell. They've trashed their main franchise (sonic) and haven't really done anything new thats worthwhile since the end of the dreamcast. What would make anyone think they'd be good enough to consistently make decent games anymore much less carry an entire console.

I would LOVE Sega to come back to the console "war". I also think the Dreamcast was a great machine, quite ahead for it´s time. And yes, really competitive from the go, much more than the PS2 which needed a long run to spread it´s wings.

All time Sega fan here I would love for that to happen. Maybe in a couple of years more... 12/12/12...11/11/11? Call it Dreamcast 2... Katana or whatever. It would be a MUST buy for me :)

Why would they come back into the console wars? SEGA hasn't even been producing quality titles as of 2003. The only GOOD game SEGA has brought out since then is Virtua Fighter 5. The rest ranged from okay to mediocre. Especially when the name of the game starts with "Sonic The..."

I never had a Dreamcast but I investigated and they had a good line up of games from day 1. I don't think ther is room for a third console because of home much it cost to make games now a day, but Im glad Sega is still making games. Its a good company.

Dreamcast doesn't have the money to compete in this rabidly intense market, fo--rget it!!

SEGA would go bankrupt without a massive cash infusion from say, Microsoft or Sony which ain't gonna happen....

I just prefer SEGA go exclusive to somebody.....maybe Microsoft could buy out their stock, for the good of everyone.

Dreamcast 2 would get its ass kicked all over the curbs by the XBOX360 & PLAYSTATION 3 and then it'd get mutilated by the system releasing AFTER it....

I don't want to see SEGA face such humiliation again.....IMO none of their games are that good either, besides GRANDIA and other third party......

so I say hell no..........leave the video game market alone..

and if EA ever releases a console I'm hoppin aboard that one =D

That was a flop.

I loved the Dreamcast. It had the power of the Sega arcade ports, which is why I wanted it to begin with. I still play mine quite often.

But I don't think I want to see another one. It can stay in the past.

They'd get slapped up so hard by the Xbox systems they would be seeing stars for years, and then on top of that, the Playstation.

SEGA is an old hat old news company now which needs to keep releasing arcade games.

With the 360 having a vastly superior library in every detail, along with the Playstation eventually having one as well, SEGA doesn't even stand a remote chance of survival.

SEGA would be competing against the Nintendo WII and even that would be unfair, as they'd get completely eaten up.

Let alone all the future games to come.....

There was a reason the SEGA systems died out, the games could not compare anywhere to the likes of Nintendo !!!!

And oh it was definitely Nintendo and their N64 which was the final nail in the coffin for Dreamcast !!!!!

Dreamcast.....it's still a great machine till these days to me, but the controller kinda, ummmm, not very comfortable.

It's nice to think about, considering that I STILL have my Dreamcast, and I STILL play it from time to time, and YES, Microsoft basically pirated it's mortal shell and made the Xbox from it..(if you don't believe me, look at a Dreamcast contoller and an original Duke Xbox controller side by side and tell me there's no outstanding similarities, button scheme, analog triggers, dual top memory slots).

Look, I'd LOVE to see a Dreamcast 2, because honestly, the ONLY reason I got a PS2 was because Dreamcast bought the farm. They had the great mix of epic RPGs, the BEST sports titles to date, (EA can suck it, Sega Sports NFL 2K on dreamcast had them sh*tting their pants), not to mention ALMOST PERFECT PC ports, albeit with ridiculous load times,(Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Soldier of Fortune), and great action titles.

I loved the Dreamcast, but I'm not getting my hopes up..ever...for Sega to re-enter the hardware market.

yes, a Dreamcast 2, I guess I can give my version of what it should be:

Keep it in similar dimensions as the original: systems lately can be HUGE in physical size

Use a cheap, but effective proprietary format: DVD has been cracked too much, and Blu-ray is still expensive

Wireless controllers are obviously a standard now, but I'd keep the VMU. Mini color screen technology is cheap enough now to be mass-produced without being a dent in the wallet. Think about it, A color screen VMU, maybe 1-2GB in size, that could double as an MP3 player, possibly load songs from it to use as background music in games? Awesome.

And as far as the internal hardware goes: HDD is a must, no less than 100GB, I'd like to see AMD enter the console processor CPU market, considering their processors are MADE for gaming, and go with an AMD GPU. And make an OS for it that is still similar to the Dreamcast, for EASY PC game porting.

Slap on a coat of paint and retail for about $299...I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

While I truly miss DreamCast and Sega consoles, we are already have too many consoles (But as a Sega / DC fanboy, I wouldn't mind if Nintendo and Wii went to oblivion and Sega could make the 3rd console to fight against Xbox 3 amd PS4.)

Personally I would love to see Sega come back. I know they had their ups and downs but in the end, I had many great days playing the DC. I will never forget the days I took to beat Skies of Arcadia and the many frags I had with QIII: Arena. Those were great times. You can count me in if they ever decide to make another console but I have to be realistic, it will never happen. A guy can dream though right?

the dreamcast was superb - i'll never forget the first day i played soul calibur, and the first time i got a vx220 out on the streets of london in MSR, not to mention how great phantasy star online was...

Sega are more of a publisher now anyway. Their first party stuff isnt really cutting it as things stand (sonic games have been poor recently for instance) and there arent many companies that can handle the huge losses you'd have to take to get in the industry now (m$ and sony are losing money like crazy on console units, ninty are the only ones making a profit on them). I think sega made the right choice to pull out when they did, and to come back now would sour a memory of a great console.

Now, when are they going to sort themselves out and make shenmue 3? :O)

I would love a Dreamcast 2, The original was the only 'last gen' system i owned

sure, the controller was uncomfortable, the wire that inexplicably came from the bottom of the controller was annoying, beep the VMU's did on startup did your head in, and the games came in REALLY bad cases that had a massive tendency to break at the hinge.

however, it was still one of the best systems i have ever owned, the games lineup was brilliant, and i often play toy commander with 3 other fiends, even now. MSR was brilliant, and although PGR series seemed to execute the idea of kudos better, i can't help but think certain game play elements in MSR were better, such as those wild cards that would essentially 'double or bust' your earning from the nest race.

One problem though... What would the fanboys use to insult Sega Fanboys? (like Fonys, Xbots and Nintendoids)

Let's not bring back the Dreamcast. It was fun for it's time and Phantasy Star Online cause me to lose a lot of sleep. The controller however SUCKED. They were cheap and kept breaking.
