Destructoid's hands-on with Turok's multiplayer: Stab, stab, stab

Destructoid writes:

"Last week, I got some hands-on time with Turok's multiplayer at an event in San Francisco. The event was held in a ballroom, but you never would have guessed it, as they went all out on the set up. They had tents, dozens of plants, and camouflage netting to give the feel of it being an actual jungle ... a jungle with an open bar and big screen TVs.

I got to mess around with some of the weapons, played on a few of the multiplayer levels, and stabbed a bunch of people."

"Overall, I really enjoyed the multiplayer. The graphics were fantastic (Turok started life on the Unreal 3 Engine, and was later heavily modified), the weapons are fun, and some of the gameplay elements (like the dinosaurs) make the battles interesting. It remains to be seen whether or not Turok's multiplayer will make this a must-have title on it's own though. I really did enjoy it, but I can't see this taking me away from my other online FPS games."

Nightdive Studios Quietly Uploaded A Native PS5 Version Of The Original Turok, Now Runs At 120FPS

After releasing remasters of all three original Turok games, starting with the first two games in 2021 and then Turok 3 in 2023, Nightdive Studios has quietly updated the first Turok game with a native PS5 update.

Beyond the bug fixes and general cleaning-up that comes with most patches these days, the big thing about the PS5 version for the original Turok is that if you have a TV that can support it, you’ll be able to play Turok at 120FPS now.

Turok: A Game Series in Need of a Reboot

The Turok series has been languishing without a new title for more than a decade. It's about time we got a reboot.

I'm all for it, I loved the originals... I just don't think, just like w the original Prey, that the main character can survive in this current political climate. Native characters seem untouchable at the moment. I think it can be shown the right respect, but there's always someone getting upset about something these days, they would find a way to cancel it.

I can't think of a game that's been cancelled because of the race of the main character.

Honestly, I would prefer if they just ported/remastered Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion to modern platforms. So we could have access to the "original 3 games". Because I don't see how to really reboot Turok. It's a product of its time being a mixture of platforming/fps and puzzle.

And I really don't see all those elements being preserved on a Reboot.

I would prefer Dino Crisis remake from Capcom. Still, a remade Turok would get my attention.

Forgets about the 2008 reboot*
I'd rather have a sequel to Turok 3, tbh.

We unfortunately do not have enough quality dino games. Theres Horizon but they're robots, and Monster Hunter that I can only think of. I'd like to see Turok make a comeback some day.
