Sometimes when we play video games we forget just how many people were involved in creating the final product. This can be especially true of massive, story-focused games like RPGs, which can have a great deal more contributors due to the nature of what they offer.
One of those people - when playing a game developed in another language at least - is the translator, oft overlooked but integral to the release. RPG Site recently had the chance to chat with Alexander O. Smith, a legendary translator perhaps most famous for his work on the Final Fantasy series who also worked on much-loved translations for Phoenix Wright, Vagrant Story and other titles, about what it is like behind the scenes. Here's what he said.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

Sorry if you were expecting Bionic Commando.
Actions speak louder than words. Show me a new Mega Man game that isn't a collection of games I played yesteryear. If they can churn out some kind of RE game every other year they can make a new Mega Man entry. It's not like it's known for its deep stories.
If they make the right choices and right kinds of games, the Mega-Man IP could potentially be made into an animated film or streaming series like the success of Mario and Sonic. Surely that thought may have crossed their minds? Or am I being silly? I mean there is a lot more water to go under the bridge for them to even start considering that. But I used to be a big mega-man fan back in the day. I'd love to see it happen.
Just like the guys said . I’ll believe it when I see it . Even the shareholders are asking questions regarding Megaman . I don’t want to sound ludacris but I have a strong conviction that the heads at Capcom are purposely holding the Megaman IP down because of their grudge and spite towards inafune on some deeper Japanese honour code stuff . It’s deeper than we think . You can tell something isn’t right .
Well i hope DMC is being worked on. Either a remake of 1 or 6 will do.
And bring back Megaman X. Either regular, command mission or make it a Metroidvania since silksong is so popular.
The year 2000 was a great time to be alive. That’s certainly true where the video game industry was concerned.
Alexander O. Smith is god-tier.
