Cant you people please wait for the real specs then we can talk good or bad about it.

dark-hollow5277d ago

doesnt matter.
Just give me legend of zelda, metroid, super mario and other nintendo titles in pure full hd and am sold

lzim5277d ago

^this (+ Sega EA and Team Ninja etc)

except my interest in Nin died with Acclaim

meanwhile.. weren't there rumors of 1.5 gigs of DDR3 in Wii U? Disappointing.

Animals_as_Leaders5277d ago

Speaking of Acclaim...how f-ing good was Extreme G on N64!?

torchic5277d ago

holy crap Acclaim! WOW I remember when they made Psychic Force. that game was so cool.

Grip5277d ago

1GB of DRAM it's ok not amazing anyway WiiU is not Next Gen console so i don't know what Nintendo will do when next gen comes out in 2 years or 3 specially when they aimed to hardcore

blumatt5277d ago

So, basically, you're saying keep spoon-feeding you the exact same games you've played for 15+ years?? Come on, man. I think new IPs are in order at this point. Yeah, I'll admit, Sony and MS pump out the same games, but they still manage (especially Sony) to pump out tons of NEW IPS also. If you keep letting Nintendo recycle games and never come out with new ones, they're gonna do it. It's easy money for them.

ChickeyCantor5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

@blumatt

They do make new IPs but since you are so focused on Mario and Zelda It seems like you just want the same thing. ( regardless of you liking them or not, they do make new IPs, and Im not going to list them since a simple google search would help you)

Ill be glad to play a new mario/zelda/metroid whatever. I've played most of the games and they are pure entertainment.

You don't have to like the games, but don't grunt when OTHER people do like their franchises.
To you they are the same, to me they feel refreshing with every installment. And that is what I call an achievement.

Pikajew5277d ago

At least Nintendo doesn't abandon their series like Sony. Sony abandon Jak & Daxter, Crash and Spyro. They also copy everyone They are making a game simular to Smash Bros, They made a Wii Remote rip off and there is also a Legend of Zelda rip off called 3D Dot Game Heroes. They also do online pass on their exclusives when MS doesn't do them and they will release the same games in HD with achievements oh I mean trophies. So before bad mouthing a company you dont like people can bad mouth a company you love.

AJBACK2FRAG5276d ago

Also F Zero, Pikmin 3, Star Fox, etc. Nintendo killed everybody w/ two GCN's duct taped together. 1080p graphics sound awesome but a whole new round of AAA titles from the best video game developer in the world is all I need to get pumped. I said it before I'll say it again,"This is only the begining."! Laterz! Oh yeah a new Animal Crossing woo-ho!

The specs dont really matter anyway, nintendo already told us how powerful it will be.
I know some ninty fans are gonna dislike me for this but they already said its roughly 50% stonger than the 360 Sure it might change a little but everything they have told us so far pans out. And so have the tech demos.

addnewman5277d ago

You people!? What do you mean, you people? :|

Hanif-8765276d ago (Edited 5276d ago )

I have to say although Nintendo really need some new ip's a new open world Pokemon game with amazing anime like graphics would definitely be a selling factor. It could easily go 1080p running at 60fps with x4 msaa if the graphics card is better than anything 2009 had to offer.

ATi_Elite5276d ago (Edited 5276d ago )

the only spec i want is the exact series and spec of the GPU. That way i will know exactly how much the Wii u can do.

cyguration5275d ago

Doesn't matter, shared 1GB DDR3 between system and GPU resources is already a bottleneck. That means that games either won't have it where you can import custom tracks, cross-game voice chat or have any other typical background features running (like downloading demos, streaming movies while you play) or the games will be severly limited.

Either way, 1GB of RAM is poor man's stats.

The reason why they cant ramp the GHZ on the CPU are a bit too obvious.

They want to keep the system small, anything above 3GHZ might cause issues simular to RROD or YLOD. Nintendo doesnt want to take a risk with the heating issues. Its not easy dissapating all that heat in such small boxes.

Todays GPUs and CPUs run very hot, Which is a reason why todays gaming PCs come in large casings with very good airflor. Because consoles function in a much different environment with very small casings, the heat will be an issue even for the next Playstation or the Xbox.

Not only will heat be a issue also the power needed to run will hold back the sort of GPU console makers will be able to equip the next consoles.

lzim5277d ago

or no.. that there isn't really a cost effective chip over 3.0ghz even though it has been over 6 years.

As you said the reasons are obvious, adding more cores is better than having 1-2 cores running 8Ghz. Power7 supposedly has 8 quad threaded cores.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

I figure if Wii U is going to run 3-4 years, 5 at most, Nintendo could put out a 6 core, quad-threaded Power7 CPU console after MS and Sony have released their consoles and upset the market. By then they could be 4Ghz and on a small enough manufacturing process to be power efficient, cheap to build and easier to keep cool.

ProjectVulcan5277d ago

It depends on what you want in your machine and what upper limit you set your power consumption and heat dissipation as. PS3 and 360 were 200w consoles when they first arrived. A modern mobile quad usually has a maximum of 55w TDP, typical parts are 45w. This is not a lot and wouldn't be very hot.

The most power consumption is always made up by the GPU, which we still know nothing useful about. Something like a 40nm radeon 6750 is an 85 watt part, which would be perfectly manageable in a box the size we have seen.

This also ignores the fact 28nm cards are upon us and will use a lot less power for a lot more performance. You have to assume that Wii U will be built on 28nm. 6750 level performance on 28nm would not use more than 50 watts. Again very very manageable in a small box with say a 50w CPU.

Processor is from IBM's Watson not PowerPC as this so-called rumour tries to announce.

ninjahunter5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

Lol, yea, lets scrounge some figures up.
Nintendo says its roughly 50% faster than Xbox 360.
So, a 4xxx series gpu and 768mb ram check out by Nintendo's estimate. Then we have the 3.55ghz Watson CPU with 2880 processor cores. Capable of loading 16gb of data in 3 seconds.

Hahaha, Im just yanking your chain.
Lol, the article says it will feature watson based technology, AKA embedded DRAM. besides nintendo already said that the Wii-U will feature architecture similar to the Xbox 360 which Conveniently uses a PowerPC processor. Im willing to believe that the Watson CPU which is worthless for anything other than data/storage management will not be making an appearance.

Half-Mafia5277d ago

how is this leaked specs when u say either 768 MB or 1024 MB RAM

MasterCornholio5277d ago

The WiiU ( according to it's specs) doesn't seem like a next gen console to me. While it will be more powerful than the PS3 it won't blow it away in terms of visuals. Seems like Nintendo is playing it safe in order to keep the cost of the hardware down. What I am really interested in are the next gen consoles that Microsoft and Sony are in the process of developing. Because in my own opinion they will be expensive but will be a lot more powerful than the WiiU. But as I said many times before on N4G I barely seen any footage of WiiU games so I don't really have a good idea on what the visuals will be like.

I'm sure how many times i have to say this... i mean i wrote a whole story on it... this is a RUMOR... WiiUDaily has and unnamed source that apparently took apart the thing as knows its exact specs... RUMOR RUMOR RUMOR... just wait til next year... Ninty will announce specs...

MasterCornholio5277d ago

Wow you sure got mad real fast. Anyways all we have to go on are rumors so I base my predictions on them until Nintendo confirms them officially.

Sorry for making you mad I didn't know that you were so sensitive to this subject. Good article though.

Next generation isn't going to completely blow the last out of the water. PCs are already 2 generations ahead of consoles, and while they do like much better, it's not mind blowingly better.

_Aarix_5276d ago

Generation is about the time it's released as oppose to the horse power.

BitbyDeath5276d ago

Nintendo usually makes a profit from all hardware sold even at launch where as both Sony and MS lose money for the first few years.

If history serves correct Nintendo will have to either be less powerful than the competition or more expensive.

I would guess and say they'd go the less powerful route but when they build a system their first party games come first so it shouldn't matter to Nintendo fans as long as they get their fix of Mario, Zelda, & Pokemon etc.

AJBACK2FRAG5276d ago

Nintendo has already demonstrated that it's not how powerful a video game system is it's what you do with it.

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo Suing U.S. Government Over Tariffs

AuraAbjure68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Yes, they had better be pissed after Trump told them the way they rip off the USA is over.

EveryPlatformGamer69d ago

LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.

-Foxtrot69d ago

That’s what I was thinking, imagine them winning hypothetically, getting a s**t load of money back which they would have lost if they hadn’t raised their prices and it’s business as normal.

It would just mean people paid more for no reason since they got the money back anyway.

Outside_ofthe_Box69d ago (Edited 69d ago )

A lot of companies partially passed the cost to consumers instead of all of it. They would still have to at least pay that back to gamers, but we know that won't happen. What's also sad is that prices won't come back down after the initial hike caused by tariffs.

People didn't understand the full repercussions of tariffs. That alone should have cost him the presidency if people knew it was a permanent price hike for consumers

Inverno69d ago

The people should sue these companies for having to over pay cause of these tariffs.

Eonjay69d ago

Naw they should sue the government for forcing the tax to begin with. No one reasonably expects these companies to absorb the taxes. Many smaller companies tried and were shut down or faced to increase prices to try to maintain their business. The tariffs effect everyone.

Inverno67d ago

I meant it mostly as a joke cause we all know the costs of these tariffs were passed onto the consumer. But it's seems no matter how vocal we are here in the states our "representatives" don't seem to care enough to represent us. And things are about to get worse.

Killer2020UK68d ago

The companies were doing what the law required then to do, the tariffs however were illegally implemented. Usually it's criminals we punish, you seem to have different ideas 🤷‍♂️
