12 Game Studios That Died in 2011

No doubts about it, 2011 was one of the best years in gaming history. Great games released consistently throughout the entire year, with many stretching their legs with awesome DLC. Despite the nonstop onslaught of impressive releases, there's been a dark fog looming over 2011 since it started; the death of development studios.

It sucks when a studio closes

saladthieves5276d ago (Edited 5276d ago )

Yes. Good hardworking people who bring their creative imaginations to life through video games. Studios ending just like that...it does suck.

I hope these guys and girls find some other projects/studios to join and continue to make what they love most.

What makes me sad is some of these games made by the studios are actually good. People would work hard on their ideas, take risks and bring them to us gamers through video games.

Unfortunately they likely end up being underrated games. People with keen interests end up buying them, while the rest of the population rushes to buy the latest Call of Duty v3.0 release yet again.

I bought Blur and really love it! Next, I'm gonna pick up Split Second.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit13d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing13d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
