IGN: Bioshock did it. Splinter Cell did it. Assassin's Creed did it. Look at almost every successful single-player franchise and you'll see many of them jump to multiplayer.
It's totally understandable. The idea behind a sequel is to catch lightning in a bottle twice while offering more features and enough changes to bring in new players and have old ones come back.

One of the best things about the Mas Effect series is the companions you meet along the way. So here is a tier list of all the companions from Mass Effect!
To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

Based on one narratively fitting ending in Mass Effect 3, Prothean squadmate Javik is highly unlikely to return in the next Mass Effect game.
He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.

Bioshock did it - Absolutely horrible MP
Splinter Cell did it - Ok, Spies Vs Mercs was amazing
Assassin's Creed did it - IMO the worst MP of this generation
Not every game needs MP, most just feel tacked on, however if they do get it right (Splinter cell) then it can be an added bonus.
lol Bioshock...it was crap
Assassins Creed is something you can go on for like an hour and get bored
Splinter Cell was average but nothing groundbreaking
Don't get me started on Dead Space 2
Why are IGN trying to defend the decision, is it because it's Bioware....lets face it as time has went on Bioware ends up creating games based on what will sell more rather then what makes a game amazing, ME2 was good but it took everything away at what made ME such a great RPG.
Lets take a look at this multi-player mode on mass effect.what most devs are looking for is replay value in there games.putting an online mode in a single player game is a gamble and not guarented to work.all i can say is good luck bioware and hope for the best.
IGN...please...just close your servers and stop infecting the minds of the gullible with your insane B.S.
Multiplayer has killed gaming innovation.
Games aren't about innovative story telling or narrative or new methods of gameplay anymore.
Gaming has become about K:D ratio and pointless peripherals.
Long live SP gaming.
Bottom Line = more chances to sell DLC
they want the 15 dollar map packs to sell.
