MW3 DLC Map Pack Already

A lot of us complained back in the MW2 days about so many DLC’s and they weren’t too expensive..then came along Black Ops and we were a bit satisfied…we wanted something new, and to make it better it included some new zombie ass kicking stuff. Then we saw that 1200 Microsoft Point price and said, it’s worth it anyway. Only a few short weeks we heard of another DLC coming to Black Ops and said to our selves “What the F**k” and we bought it anyway. Then another DLC came out and that’s when many of us said “forget you Treyarch, I don’t want anymore zombie maps”. Now with MW3 out, they might be looking to cook up a DLC only a short time after it’s release.

The DLC which we will see in December was in the works before the game was even released. It's already finished as the DevKits with them has been pirated and shown to the public, even across N4G.com.

So yes, DLC in December, five maps.

HSx95231d ago

They do this with all CODs, it's really shameful if you ask me.

NuclearDuke5231d ago

Shameful, how? Every company does this. They have an assembled production team, however when the game nears release, priority shifts to post-launch content development/sequel development.

Mist of Pandoria was begun before Cataclysm was launched. FYI. :)

S_C5231d ago

As a elite member i want to see more DLC not less, I want my moneys worth !!

benleescott5231d ago

It's not like they are forcing you to buy it.

Berserk5231d ago

Mw3 was released with 16 multiplayer maps!!! How many other games do the same?
Besides if you don't like the map pack simply don't buy it, instead of b!tchng on N4G on how you think they are riping of people, when majority of the people playing mostly play cod!

ZippyZapper5231d ago

EA also does this with BF3 http://n4g.com/news/895060/... read the news before you make stupid comments.

OC_MurphysLaw5231d ago

This is exactly why you should be an Elite member if you plan on or want to get more than just one or two map packs... They are going to pump out DLC all year for this game and Elite members will benefit as it will be free with their paid subscription...and they will get early access.

RyuCloudStrife5231d ago

hmmm so you have a gun to your head forcing you to buy? Plus if the demand is there why hold back? hmmm you really are a stupid individual.

Bleucrunch5231d ago

How is he stupid? Please clarify that to me...His opinion was not offensive nor derogatory...you guys obviously haven't played COD because when they release the DLC and you don't get it...they severely limit how many games you can get into online and rest assured to make sure they denote that you DO NOT have the DLC map pack for all to see...Yes shameful indeed...and for you ELITE members....where is your level of intelligence when you pay for the game and then shell out another yearly membership to get "free" DLC (biggest pile of horse crap I ever heard)...LOL omg I should come up with an asinine membership...give me YOUR MONEY pleeeeease!

frostypants5231d ago

If these maps are just classic MW and MW2 maps, then who'll be dumb enough to pay for it? Given that MW3 is effectively just a giant MW2 map pack itself, why re-pay for old maps when we can just throw MW2 back in whenever we want?

TyrannoTaurus5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

Yeah, so shameful that they're going to give me my money's worth with Elite.

MaxXAttaxX5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

K then.

Disccordia5231d ago

Elite premium only gets you 20 pieces of dlc. If that's all of mw3s content then that's four packs of five. Presumably playable with survival spec ops mode too

RedSky5230d ago

You have to hand it to Activision for the gall of their business model.

They've standardised the release of an FPS videogame franchise on a yearly cycle. Something that to that point had never been done.

They've also pushed up the price people were previously used to paying for, for DLC.

Now, they're not only speeding up the process of DLC being released, they're selling you old maps as a loyal fan you would probably already own and have purchased through previous yearly releases for the franchise.

Maps mind you, which given the game engine has not changed since CoD4 besides refinements, is probably easy as pie for them to convert to the latest release.

When you consider the sum of the parts of their abundantly cynical business model, I can't help thinking that the apologists who defend the series by telling people to 'stop hating on CoD', are just permanently stuck in a bent over position.

seinfan5230d ago

It says SOLDER on the pic. lol he's yelling at some random substance.

Cosmo8115230d ago

I agree with S_C. I paid for Elite because I was going to buy all the DLC anyway because I think CoD is a lot of fun. I want MORE DLC, not less! I don't care if they were making it before or after launch, as long as I get it!

jeseth5230d ago

Battlefield, Batman, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, Dead Space, Madden, inFamous, Dragon Age, The Show, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc. etc. etc.

ALL Games do this now. Get over your COD hate and open your eyes.

I don't want to come off as a jerk, but are you really comparing the expansions of WoW to COD games?

WoW expansions are a whole new experience for those who follow the lore. For those who don't, it is still a new experience for all the small changes like new spells, new raids, new PvP styles, new questing, and the new lands.

The differences in the COD games...maps and guns :)

KaBaW5231d ago

We get guns in the DLC?! I must have had a broken download ....

frostypants5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

The Cataclysm expansion (or re-code, really) basically ruined WoW. Took it from feeling like a true open-world RPG where you're just a guy looking for adventure to feeling like a single-player RPG where you're the center of everything important. Some liked it. I thought it destroyed the entire point of the game, especially with the quest instancing which actually makes it HARDER to work with others on many open-world quests.

WoW now feels like a pretty crummy single-player RPG with a monthly fee and some multiplayer-zones thrown in. The open world areas feel dead. It's sad what has become of it. They over-catered to the rabid raiding types who just wanted to get to end game ASAP. The rapidly dwindling player base (down 10% as of late) is testament to the fact that they made a mistake.

I used to return to WoW for a few months at a time every year or two. No more. In an effort to spice the game up, they've managed to make it feel dead and empty.

/rant off

fragnificent5231d ago

they should really wait to see what the consumer wants, such as dice with more destruction.

OC_MurphysLaw5231d ago

Dice should have given us more destruction from the get go. It is shameful how "un-destructible" pretty much every map is that came with the game.

fragnificent5231d ago

na, the game isnt all about destruction, they took time making the maps, they didnt want us reducing them to ruble

OC_MurphysLaw5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

@frag...
then why are they now giving us maps with "Higher destruction" than those shipped? I mean if they didn't want us reducing the maps to rubble... why now?

And I do get the game is not all about destruction..its about team work first and foremost. That said, when destruction is hit and miss...it makes it more frustraiting as a player using vehicles and weapons that take out walls in some places but not others. And reducing buildings to rubble was part of the charm of BFBC2 that seems to be lost in BF3 so far.

frostypants5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

Total destruction worked in BFBC2 because of the lower player counts. If there was full destructibility in a 64-player BF3 map, the whole thing would be pancaked in about 3 minutes.

The expansion will be interesting. In the urban maps, I imagine it will be more like Seine Crossing, where you can obliterate building facades, but not necessarily bring them completely down.

Is it any different to what ND is doing for uncharted? Heck at least activision is giving US new maps from scratch..all ND has been giving US is updated maps from uncharted 2. I don't see anyone complaining about that.

3GenGames5231d ago

As if the COD DLC for MW2 wasn't COD4 maps, they've already stooped below that level dude, years ago.

Thatguy-3105231d ago

Point I'm trying to make is that why aren't ppl whining about ND doing it. Releasing DLC when the game isn't even a month old.

jeseth5230d ago

I'd pay for Vacant as DLC for every COD game.

Vacant is by far one of the best maps ever.

vortis5230d ago

Because Uncharted is a top notch experience, that's why. You can literally SEE what Naughty Dog did from start to finish as an immersive triple-A game.

CoD is literally a copy-and-paste job. Literally. You're basically given the option to pay for more maps from a game you already bought with absolutely nothing new about it except that they removed character customization. Explain to me how removing stuff and then adding it back in so you can pay for it again makes any sense for a consumer to justify?

Ugh, pointless.

Tanir5230d ago

um Nuclear........it waasnt hard for them to do the map packs.....its levels that were already made with no alterations.

sledgehammer sucks at making COD, thats why each and every map in MW3 is garbage. COMPLETE trash.

so they release levels that were actually better, buuut they should have been included for free since its the same engine and takes no work. then again, any person with a brain would just pop in the old MW1 or MW2 and play the old maps since the gameplay/graphics/ game is the same thing, minus kill streaks/ Support streaks

Will not buy for $15. For $4.99.....I might think about it.

KontryBoy7065231d ago

Agreed they freaking crazy to release $15 map packs a month aft release meanwhile battlefield is giving away dlc for buying their game on release. GTFO activision

Iroquois_Pliskin5231d ago

I knew they wouldnt change their ways, so i didnt buy MW3 at all.

Kahvipannu5231d ago

True, but I liked the BF:BC2 way better, all map packs were free if you had new copy of the game, or online pass.

I hope they keep future DLC prices low, and I believe they will. Vietnam total-conversion was just 12€, it was a bargain.

grahf5230d ago

You still got ripped off, if you waited a month you could have gotten BF3 for less than $30. Add BtK (the "bonus" DLC, old recycled maps) for another $15 (OMG! EA CHARGING $15 for DLC????), and you're still ahead.

Get over yourselves. EA is just as bad as Activision. Go buy/play whatever you want. What else... Oh yeah. O'Doyle Rules!

jeseth5230d ago

EA is worse than anyone when it comes to DLC,

Battlefield, Madden/NCAA/NHL, Action/RPG games ... it never ends with them.

HELL, THEY STARTED ONLINE PASS !!!!

Kahvipannu5230d ago

Quote:
"EA is worse than anyone when it comes to DLC,

Battlefield.."

They really haven't done "that" with Battlefield, atleast not yet. Agreed that those re-skins for BF:BC2 was just laughable, becouse asking money from them is just retarded. But otherwise it have been pretty much in control in the case of BF.

thespaz5231d ago

People are disagreeing with you because you don't love MW games and you don't get all the DLC and you don't enjoy it.

People on N4G suck. The other day I said I owned a Mac Pro with both Mac OS X and Windows 7 on it and I got like 7 disagrees. I even posted a picture. N4G gets more lame by the minute.

LoaMcLoa5231d ago

I disagreed with him because he's one of those idiots who support the 15 dollar tag for DLCs...

JeffGUNZ5231d ago

@ LoaMcloa

Who are you to call someone an idiot when they spending their own money on something they desire? Grow up moron, that;s why you have 2 bubbles.

jeseth5230d ago

People are just disagreeing with you because the game you like is more popular than theirs and they aren't grown up enough to handle it.

I don't get it. COD can give to DAYS of replayability. Say you pay $60 for the game and buy 3 $15 dollar map packs for a total of $105.... then you get 4 or 5 Days (And in a lot of cases more than 10 days online) of MP out of it... thats less tham $1 an hour to entertain yourself.

A lot of these people criticize COD but I bet they run out and buy a new iPhone every year, why do they care what others spend their money on? Insecure I guess.

Bleucrunch5231d ago

No what he is saying Jeff is that the DLC shouldnt cost that much and for people to buy makes the Activision think that these draconian prices for digital content is ok...which makes them potentially want to increase the price of the DLC...you heard it form me first you will see $25 DLC map packs from activision...lol and idiots....I mean people will buy it.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5231d ago (Edited 5231d ago )

Wow that was Fast, not even a month after release.

FourGees5231d ago

Modern Warfare 3 flooded with cheaters after arrival on Xbox Game Pass

Players are using hacks to gain an advantage in the game, such as aimbots and wall hacks. The first gives a player superhuman aiming abilities, while a wall hack lets you see through walls to gauge where other players are.

standard.co.uk
Jin_Sakai602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

“These hacks are typically used by PC players, but those playing on PC via Xbox Game Pass are identified as Xbox players in multiplayer lobbies.”

This is pretty dumb to say the least.

Cacabunga601d ago

All about them headshots for Xbox

badz149602d ago

Gotta pump those numbers up

blackblades602d ago

That's a WTF, they suppose to be labeled as pc users even if its on PC game pass. They mess that up big time.

XiNatsuDragnel602d ago

Oh bad this will be entertaining to watch

ZycoFox601d ago

If AI keeps getting better (and it will) it's just a matter of time before there's more sophisticated cheats even for consoles, and they wouldn't even need to be running on it, I have little doubt about that.

lelo2play602d ago

Don't Gamepass online games have anti-cheat systems?
If not, that's pretty dumb. Microsoft need to fix that asap.

Rynxie602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

They won't ever fix this problem, unless they (developers, publishers, Sony and MS) go after the cheat providers directly. You no longer need to hack consoles to use hacks. During the ps360 days, they were going after cheat devices, but it was a cat and mouse game. These cheating methods were around during those days, it's nothing new, but they kept it under control. Since the PS4/Xbox one generation, they stopped going after these cheating devices and it became widespread. Which I find odd, since they started charging for online play (PS4).

StormSnooper601d ago (Edited 601d ago )

Possibly, this is because the companies were going after cheats because the same cheats were being used to pirate the games, whereas today, the companies use online verification to prevent piracy, thus eliminating the need to go after people who cheat only to gain an advantage in the game. As long as the cheater remains below the radar, and does not completely break the game, the companies look the other way as their wallets are not threatened by it. (that is my completely Uneducated opinion on the matter)

pwnmaster3000602d ago

I mean, COD games was always filled with hackers, nothing new. I can’t blame MS on this. Activision had years to try and fix this. Might take MS some time to make some change.

Rude-ro602d ago

It all depends…
Microsoft’s guidance on how to handle gamepass on pc and their love to force crossplay with pc seems like a them issue.
And they own activision, so it is still a them issue.

StormSnooper601d ago

lol well that sucks.

Is there a reason this happened upon arrival on xbox?

Activision Reportedly Sold An AI-Generated Skin In Call Of Duty

The Yokai's Wrath bundle was released despite previous guarantees by Activision that A.I. would not be used for final assets, per the report. Instead, Activision assured developers it was simply for internal concepts. That, of course, was not followed through. For what it's worth, per the PlayStation Store, 2,400 COD Points cost $19.99, meaning players potentially spent real-life money on a skin that was not created by an actual human.

As far as A.I. use goes across Activision, a source told Wired that 2D artists are utilizing A.I. to aid their work. That is a result of mass layoffs, in which many 2D artists were impacted. “A lot of 2D artists were laid off,” the source named Noah said. “Remaining concept artists were then forced to use A.I. to aid in their work.” Mandatory A.I. trainings have been implemented, according to Noah.

@S2Killinit

You never mentioned skins in your comment just stated its all microsoft's fault like so many others.

When like i showed they are late to the ball game as every other company is using or plans to use ai in various field.

If you combine everything then its getting closer to hitting a button and poof out comes a game no soul no passion nothing.

Right now its art/3d models/skins/writing/voice work some and coding can all be done via ai.

S2Killinit604d ago (Edited 604d ago )

That was the whole point of my comment, I wrote it in response to the article. Instead of focusing on making exciting games and developing talented developers, they are busy making AI generated skins that people are buying for huge sums of money. Then, some people turn around and shit on Sony when it tries to capitalize on single player classics by making remasters, and the same people then complain that they want more single player games. MS cannabalized the industry because they never thought making games was essential to their business. So, instead of nurturing theor own studios, they let them die, then went and shrunk the industry, hurting interests of every gamer in the world. Anytime there is a bad trend in the industry, MS is at the helm, leading the way. That is what I’m saying.

smashman98604d ago

I'm sorry but do you honestly believe Sony will sit out of A.I. Every executive at every one of these publishers is wetting themselves in delight at the prospect of A.I. You best believe that once we start seeing it spread throughout the industry Sony won't be too far behind. The only people we'll have to blame are the consumers themselves.

S2Killinit604d ago (Edited 604d ago )

No, I don't believe that Sony will not do the same. But, as I mentioned, MS is always the first to embrace such things and create the worst trends. Once they establish that this is the best way to make money, everyone else will follow. (Have to follow if they want to stay competitive)

thesoftware730604d ago

S2, and blackblades:

All from the Horse's mouth below.

"Artificial intelligence (AI) in video games is crucial for Gen Z and Gen Alpha, who seek “personalization across everything,” says PlayStation executive Asad Qizilbash."

“Advancements in AI will create more personalized experiences and meaningful stories for consumers.”

"He emphasized that AI could enable non-player characters to interact with players based on their actions, enhancing the personal connection within the game."

Yeah, Just MS and Activision...smh

S2Killinit604d ago

I’ve already explained myself twice. Quit your false equivalence, same thing the xbox fateful pulled before and after the ABK acquisitions. Which by the way, blew up in your faces real good. Now, doing the same thing when someone brings up MS’s nefarious behavior, defend them to the end, and watch them scorch gaming as they have been. At least rest of us can take consolation in that the smoke will go in your eyes before anyone else’s.

thesoftware730603d ago (Edited 603d ago )

"Quit your false equivalence, same thing the xbox fateful pulled before and after the ABK acquisitions. Which by the way, blew up in your faces real good."

I'm not sure what you are talking about, you seem to have a issue communicating, because we are on a post about using AI to create video games content, and you put that solely at the feet of MS and Activision, when it's being, and will be used industry wide, right from Sony mouth, I would say it's relevant...then you went on to give Sony a spit shine slob down about a masterpiece TLoU when this had absolutely nothing to do with Sony or TLoU, then you attempted to clean up your rambling spit shine with no real backing for a ridiculous comment.

Obviously you meant to post that nonsensical over exaggerated comment. I also don't know what blew up in people faces, I am perfectly fine with the game industry, I don't have time to be internet outraged about nothingness.

Really read your comment and listen to what you said.

"Activision. And MS. They will ruin console gaming forever."

Bro, for real? Really? Seriously? It's that serious? So there is nothing Sony and Nintendo can do against MS and Activision? MS is 3rd place with you even talking about?

If we stay relevant on MTX, then you still sound ridiculous because again, you lay it all at MS and Activision's feet when almost all companies have used some form of MTX, including yup... Sony.

S2Killinit600d ago

I read this comment, it boiled down to “seeiously?”.

My answer: yes seriously. Since you didn’t say anything else, what else can I tell you? Yes MS is seriously ruining gaming. They have been for some time, and working their way to where we are today, and aren’t even done yet. MS are the worst thing to happen to console gaming.

"The Yokai's Wrath bundle was released despite previous guarantees by Activision that A.I. would not be used for final assets, per the report."

We're talking concept art? Because as of right now there's no way to generate a final 3D model with final textures. So the final assets don't use AI. That's not to say that it sucks for 2D artist that it's easier to generate visual ideas and build from them leading to less 2D artists needed (really sucks), but are they say the final concept art was completely AI generated and then 3D artists built from that? And yes, I'll pile on that Activision as a publisher and their developers I have experience with suck and they'll do whatever, ethics be damned.
