I have been boycotting this website for almost two years now. So I am up for anything against this website

....now does anyone know where one can go to flood the recommend box and get gamespot kicked off of metacritic??

the review industry is corrupt and it only started with gamespot...

I used to visit Gamespot every day. I've only visited once since the news broke and that was to look for the video review(which was pulled).

I haven't gone back since and I don't want to go there anymore...

Ever notice it's always prodominate Microsoft 3rd party partnes that Gamespot always puts the go deep gloves on for?? I hate Assassins Creed and tell everyone who comes into my store asking about it what I think about it and then reccomend something else. I do the same with Kane and Lynch and several other games...

Gamespot crossed the line long ago and now they're paying for it. Simple as that. I hope they belly up and expose Microsoft while they're at it. Cnet and Microsoft are lovers. Gamespot is the pivot man.

I have a feeling that if Gamespot had attacked an uninnovative, mediocre title like...let's say...Halo...they would've been in even more trouble.

I was thinking the same thing. All these people protesting and organizing, perhaps they can protest things like..human rights or something

if those idiot gave perfect dark on the 360 a high score they deserve to be boycotted, so at least this should show you guys that developer indeed pay for their review to be good. So Screw you gamespot, what happen insomniac didn't pay you?

The word is out on the street - or - the web. All over their reputation is now shattered. The money they took better lasts, because their core market - the gamers - is leaving the building - accounts. When the visitors to the site dries up, the advertisers will leave - with the exception of the few who thought they might buy the positive reviews.

And this should be a warning to the rest out there as well. We can expect a number of other sites suddenly "correcting" their reviews to avoid scrutiny. Which will most probably make it only worse.

I expect we will see a lawsuit soon over this review tactics. It affects market share - and represents loss of earnings. In effect it is false advertising. What if a publisher sues them, and under cross examination a reviewer cracks and admits that he was instructed to give low scores to a title and downplay it in every way? That would represent loss of earnings for the publisher due to bribery. The one who paid for the bad review and the one giving the bad review will have to make up for the loss of earnings. Not to say of anti-competitive lawsuits etc that may come out of this. Reviews is a business, and must be held accountable according to business ethics.

I am quite sure a few fat little reviewers will sh*te their pants when they see in what kinds of trouble they can be for taking the gifts and inflating / deflating the scores in exchange.

I was on the GS forums last night (haven't done that in a while) and I thought the reader score thing was pretty clever too. People over there are seriously pissed. Funny thing is, at least with the score of 6, K&L probably would have sold enough copies. Now that everyones attention is on it, I'm guessing thats not gonna happen. Probably not what Eidos had in mind.

they are saying to boycott the ads as well as the site, i'm sure quite a few people on here use firefox with ad block and don't see the ads anyway

you go about it is contacting the sponsors to remove there support for the site. If the site loses it sponsors then the site can't go on.

... none of the people posting here know the facts surrounding him leaving. this whole 'boycott' thing is retarded on so many levels.

There needs to be more exposure done on the industry because there are a few more sites which do heavy advertising of games; the spotlight should be done into their policies and inner-dealings.

1UP should be next followed by GameTrailers.

I could have told you that... look at EGM/1UP giving games like Uncharted and Ratchet&Clank 8.0/8.5 ratings while Halo 3 gets 9's and 10's (with a mediocre campaign)... I think we, as gamers, need to create some sort of coup against the game-review organization in general. It seems that everyone prefers to take money under the table nowadays and treat gaming as a prostitute rather than an art and entertainment industry as it once was before.

just dont visit gamespot thats the best way, once they see how little the hits are they will have to try something else. as for gerstmann being fired i dont really care. people get fired everyday for all different things this is no different, and it wasnt like he made that much of a difference.

I don't actually think there has been enough information out about this to make any black/white decisions. Yes the firing was supposedly associated with the review, but from what I understand there are previous offences and the problem wasn't the 7/10 he gave it. The problem was the tone of the article, it focused on all negatives, which a lot of his reviews did. I think pulling your marketing campaign from a company that doesn't even give your game a fair review makes sense. Kane and Lynch is not a terrible game by any means, but by the way that review was worded you would have thought he was going to give it a 4/10.

gamespot needs to learn a lesson ... i hope they learn it and change ...

GameSpot's articles have been decreasing in quantity and quality since this generation started. I mean, just look at IGN's coverage of Tekken 6: http://ps3.ign.com/objects/...

IGN have some sixteen news articles and two previews on the game, while GameSpot only have six news articles(one of which only has to do with the Tekken film) and two previews.

And I hope this is a lesson to everyone in the industry. It would be like Titanic or Enron all over again, except in the game journalism "world". IGN, 1up, EGM, Games Radar, GamePro, Destructoid, and so on... they all have some bits of shoddy and shady journalism. But again, I doubt they'll change much... they'll simply try to be "more careful". I'm glad this happened though... it just shows that game scores are taken too seriously by gamers, whereas they are actually skewed by the corruption of the journalists, or simply by the fact that they can't take it too seriously themselves (Mario: 11 out of 10, anyone?).

Hate them since the bad reviewed of Metal Gear Solid 3.

EGM had the same situation; they reviewed a game and gave it low scores and the advertisers pulled the ads...you know what EGM did? shrugged their shoulders and continued to give us the best damn reviews out there. What they gained was credibility and personal reaffirmation that they're the best out there. Had Gamestop given K&L a high score, they'd lose credibility; if you're looking for an honest review, you know not to turn to these guys. Personally, I never liked Gamespot and found them to be tripe and increasingly shallow in their reviews. Now, the more I think about it, I wonder about Cnet.com? I mean, I'd go there to read their "trustworthy" reviews, but who's to say that Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer...etc etc doesn't pay for those reviews? Birds of a feather flock together, maybe.

Loved freedom fighters! Surprised to see so many people actually liked that game. I thought it flew under the radar when it was released.

Be interesting to see what direction they take and how long they stay afloat. At least they have their beloved Hitman and Freedom Fighters. Though my bet, if not a new Hitman, they'll be working on something new.

IO did an incredible job on Mini Ninjas and it was a great game. Granted now that they're independent I doubt IO would bring a new one or remaster it but... it was a great game and I'd love a sequel. I certainly don't see Square doing anything with the IP. Hopefully, if I'm wrong, they do it justice.
