Will Nintendo Carjack GTA V?

Here's a crazy idea: What if Rockstar and Take-Two decide to take the exclusive route with Grand Theft Auto V, positioning the guaranteed blockbuster as a launch title for one, and only one, of the next-generation consoles?

NukaCola5295d ago

No. It wouldnt sell. Look at GTA Chinatown Wars on DS. The Best GTA since Sand Andreas and a classic hit with stellar gameplay. High scores and a crap load of media praise. Didn't sell cause the system was marketed to casual gamers and kids. Which is sad. I got it day one and it's still one of the best games, DS, GTA or otherwise. around.

Yodagamer5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

why the game sold a million copys, which was more than the psp port which sold a bout half a million

Edit: i now see the article ment exclusive, i don't see it being exclusive though

yabhero5295d ago

yah but wiiu isnt marketed to kids and casuals as much as ds and wii

No point pondering over something that is out of the question. Third parties cannot afford to just on one console any more. Nintendo would not only have to subsidise the estimated loss made by selling to one console and possibly a little extra. It would make the system more desirable like most exclusives but would this happen. Of course not. With estimated sales being around 25 million Nintendo would have to subsidise a lot

NYC_Gamer5295d ago

this won't happen because T2 would lose too much profit.

TheBlackMask5295d ago

I wouldn't buy it, playing a GTA game on a Nintendo console would feel weird, think I would stick to the PS3. It was like Tomb Raider when that went MP, couldn't play it on the 360, it just didn't feel right.

ChickeyCantor5295d ago

" playing a GTA game on a Nintendo console would feel weird"

The crazy things you people make up. You act as if it's a cult...
"Play it on console X or you will go to hell...Trollollollolloll"

It's a machine which plays software. It doesn't affect ANYONE when playing it on the Wii-U including you.
Get over yourself man.

TheBlackMask5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

So because I prefer playing it on a the series of consoles which the franchise was born on I need to get over myself.

....Shut the hell up and stop being a whinny b*tch

n4f5295d ago

sidar is right, how could it be wrong on playing on a nintendo system?
''....Shut the hell up and stop being a whinny b*tch ''- really?!

Mini Mario5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

"So because I prefer playing it on a the series of consoles which the franchise was born on I need to get over myself."

Hope you don't like final fantasy or metal gear then lol

Because they were born on Nintendo consoles

You are proof that SOME people do not want nintendo to succeed. In fact I think SOME people would hate nintendo getting more 3rd party support because then they would have nothing to complain about.

Venoxn4g5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

so even if Wii U version was superior to X360/PS3 (better graphics or maybe new features, cars or other stuff) you still were playing on PS3?

I actually don't care on which platform game is, all I care is gameplay ...and not 'this is weird, this is not' ..

spacedelete5295d ago

I think theres more chance of hell freezing over. there hasn't been a single GTA game on a Nintendo console so it would make no sense making GTA one of the most violent games around all of a sudden exclusive to a company that loves there cute kiddy mascots.

Rockstar couldn't even be bothered porting the GTA triolgy on the gamecube. i doubt they will start now.

Venoxn4g5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

but Wii had Bully ..and that was a good port and it sold about half a million.. (for a port it's not that bad).. so why not a new GTA on Wii U? :) every console deserves a chance.. exclusively or not.. (I actually don't care if it was exclusive or not) :)

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo Suing U.S. Government Over Tariffs

The fact that you have ANY disagrees will forever baffle me. And to the (apparent) MAGA contingent that exists on this website, enjoy your 8-9 dollar gas.

AuraAbjure76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

Yes, they had better be pissed after Trump told them the way they rip off the USA is over.

EveryPlatformGamer77d ago

LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.

-Foxtrot77d ago

That’s what I was thinking, imagine them winning hypothetically, getting a s**t load of money back which they would have lost if they hadn’t raised their prices and it’s business as normal.

It would just mean people paid more for no reason since they got the money back anyway.

Outside_ofthe_Box76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

A lot of companies partially passed the cost to consumers instead of all of it. They would still have to at least pay that back to gamers, but we know that won't happen. What's also sad is that prices won't come back down after the initial hike caused by tariffs.

People didn't understand the full repercussions of tariffs. That alone should have cost him the presidency if people knew it was a permanent price hike for consumers

Inverno77d ago

The people should sue these companies for having to over pay cause of these tariffs.

Eonjay77d ago

Naw they should sue the government for forcing the tax to begin with. No one reasonably expects these companies to absorb the taxes. Many smaller companies tried and were shut down or faced to increase prices to try to maintain their business. The tariffs effect everyone.

Inverno75d ago

I meant it mostly as a joke cause we all know the costs of these tariffs were passed onto the consumer. But it's seems no matter how vocal we are here in the states our "representatives" don't seem to care enough to represent us. And things are about to get worse.

Killer2020UK75d ago

The companies were doing what the law required then to do, the tariffs however were illegally implemented. Usually it's criminals we punish, you seem to have different ideas 🤷‍♂️
