The SQUAD system is broken at least for the PC users. Also, when the hell are they going to fix the damn PS3 voice chat? It's like having sex while wearing 80 condoms!

Not only the squad system...I can't even launch the damn game anymore.

When are they going to make this game playable, when it's not stuttering ever minute it's not even starting or taking an hour to load a damn level. Ridiculous.

Im surprised they left irnv alone. Though I wouldnt mind so much if they made a came that left u alone in scopes. Alot of camo skins still leave u highly exposed

I thought pistols were fine as they are. They're strictly a last-resort "oh crap I'm out of G37 clips" or "oh crap that guy will be coming around the corner before I can reload" weapon. For that purpose I think they're great. I *WANT* to feel like I'm at a disadvantage when I have to resort to my sidearm...it makes getting kills with it that much more exciting (60 of my 1300 kills are with pistols).

No voice chat fix for consoles? I'd argue that's the number 1 issue with the game right now, and that makes this patch pretty useless IMHO. I love this game, but Dice really needs to fix this issue asap.

I would argue that PC performance and crashes are the No. 1 issue right now. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to join my buddy and get a CTD, disconnect, AND for some reason load up campaign instead of the server 3 times in a row. VERY nice looking patch; can't wait to try it out tomorrow.

pc performance isn't the #1 issue, because after all the hype about superior hardware & how great the graphics are & how much better it is than CoD, ..it couldn't even sell a million copies in the first month on pc.....and look at it now, a bug filled piece of crap that will probably take 2 years of constant updates to make it finally work properly.
Consoles sold about 5 times as much.
Attention should be placed at consoles first, simply because more people have it.

^ No, the console version didn't sell fives times as much as the PC version.

If you look at BF3Stats, then the playercount is usually similar for all three platforms, which indicates a similar number of purchases.

^^i'm not saying you are wrong...but i have at least 15 friends on my list that have yet to login to the multiplayer or co op part of the game...

Just pointing that out, because it shows you what friends are participating online in the battle feed, as well as the friends leaderboard (assuming they never made a battlelog account)...

So simply looking at an active player count might not be the best gauge on BF3 sales...and we've seen this 100s of times already, the 360 annihilated both the PS3 and PC combined in every other 'similar' title...not sure why it would be different now...

^ There's always going to be some discrepancy. I picked the similar playercounts because it is one indication that there is no big gap between the playerbases.

You can look at bfbcs, which also has the total players for BC2 to be similar for the three platforms.

I don't doubt that the 360 would've sold more than the PC, but the gap certainly isn't 5x.
Fred was making that claim based on retail sales which don't include the digital sales for PC.

I believe he's basing his opinion on retail sales which are believed to be 25% of tracked sales by many in the industry. I would place the pc version ahead of the ps3 version.

History lesson:

I would also take into account the crysis effect that will happen with bf3. For those of you who don't remember crysis sold only 50k in it's first week or two on pc which had crytek in panic mode quick to blame piracy and vowing never again to do a pc exclusive. This was around the time epics own failure that was unreal 3 was released and they also blamed piracy for their own shortcomings which led to the widespread belief that pc gaming was dead by the general gaming folk.

The average pc cant run bf3 and back then the average pc couldnt run crysis. As hardware began to catch up crysis went on to sell 4 million the last time I read about it. this left crytek between a rock and a hard place and in the end chose to cater to the console crowd.

It wasnt until they realized that their plan "backfired on them" to quote cevat yerli that they tried to appease the pc fanbase by releasing dx11 months later to try and save this crumbling franchise and save their title of being the most technologically advanced studio on the market.

@Unicron. Remember, this is a PC patch. Though the server side stuff will affect all platforms, a console specific patch will be released later.

Performance has not been an issue at all for me and im not running top of the line hardware. 2.9 quad core and an HD 5770. Runs this game amazingly, not everything on Ultra settings but it runs great. I think its very well optimized not perfect but nothing is.

that list looks a whole lot smaller then stated earlier by dice, and they left out some really important issues that needed fixing with this patch and not left to fester.

really not happy that the irnv and mortar balance is not taken care of in this patch.

DICE always do that. There will be bugs found day 1 that will still be in the game when they launch BF4.

I still want to be able to rebind the bipod to something that isn't a console-port action. It's like nobody else even notices that it's tied to aim down sight :S

Mortars have made the game pointless and unplayable.

Mortar guys are easy kills imo, too many snipers is my main complaint.

BF3 should have a limited number of sniper slots like RO2.

LMAO! Its not hard to kill a guy with mortars. Its called, GET MORTARS TO KILL THEM!
I do it all the time when i start hearing shells fall from the sky.
All you have to do is set up and wait for them to shoot. Then you find them on the map, drop a shell and BOOM, they're dead!
Its as simple as that...
Stop complaining about great features of the game and learn how to counter things...

bozebo is right. Hell, they were still patching fundamental BF2 issues 4 YEARS after it was released...well after BF2142 came out.

So yeah...again, bozebo is absolutely correct. I LOVE the BF series, but Dice is kind of like the Bethesda of the FPS world when it comes to fixing stuff.

@bumnut, yeah, there are too many snipers. The problem for me isn't that they're too many on the other team...it's that there's too many on MY team! It's impossible to win Conquest when nobody takes flags. I generally flag all such people as "Avoid This Player - Reason: Unfamiliar With Game" on Live.

I just hate when people take a gameplay aspect of a game and in their heads make it to be a bug due to they dying, not knowing how to counter attack or because are too lazy to do so. I mean seriously mortar guys aren't unbeatable neither are snipers you could easily take them out if you try and if you can't then he's a better player than you good luck next time, i personally like the diversity of the game and welcome it all.

Still nothing about

- jets guided bombs being powered up
- Jet rockets being powered up
- chopper rockets being powered up
- having more squads in 64 player servers (desperately needed)
- tank shells being more powerful against jeeps (2 hits? stupid)
- about controller support
- IRNV scopes
- Mortars

This patch looks like a fail and seems to correct really neglible issues "fixed sound for climbing ladders" what....the......fuck....

Im pretty sure there is BIGGER issues than the sound of climbing a ladder in a game.

When it comes to sense, DICE; they make none.

While those are still issues, you can't expect them to make to many changes at once. Basically everything air related got reworked, so most likely they will see if that balances it out before boosting jets and helis even more.

Other than that IRNV is the most glaring issue along with flashlights. Mortars are fine since they are easily counterbale by switching classes, and also they are making the MAV capable of disabling a mortar in the future.

As to what i know there are IR scopes that can be used in the day or night. For example the Stinger Gen 3 scope.

This patch isn't a fail, are you blind? They are clearly fixing a lot of things, stop crying because they couldn't or didn't patch certain things. Now that these things have been cleared, they will start fixing other things they missed such as the things you mentioned, or maybe they don't want to update certain things because it could break the game or they may not feel it would balance it.

You do know in real life, one tank shell would completely annihilate a jeep...

Mortars peeps easily 'killable'.

Me personally dont find Jets/Helis a problem. Easily taken out if they are a real bothersome.

Everything else I'd have to agree with you on.

Jet rockets are fine. You should be able to take out anything with 2 or 3 GOOD passes. Being able to kill a tank in a single pass would be cheap.

The weird thing, on the 360 at least, is how few people actually use rocket pods on jets. It's like they don't even know they exist...

@BraveToaster (#11): What's wrong with the INRV? I don't think it's better or worse than any other scope. It's nice for picking out campers, though...

Nice. I thought it was some sort deliberate game feature like they did with Crysis 2. No wonder it's hard to defend points when enemies are capturing it. Hate it in Crysis 2 (with enemies respawning just behind you after you killed them)and glad to know they are fixing this for BF3.

Not really sure about the air vehicles though. I feel extremely vulnerable in tanks when there are helos/rocket packing jets around. Even a freaking Little Bird can kill a tank in just one strafing pass (with rockets).

Running around with a 60 tonne death machine carrying a 120mm cannon rolling nearby is not the most ideal situation for a foot soldier. I guessed I'm pampered by Bad Company 2 where I can easily shrug off any helo attack in a tank. In BF3, even the Little Bird's tiny miniguns seem to be able to inflict huge damage to a tank quickly (they are even more powerful than BC2's helo gunner's 30mm cannon).

Another contrast is that I can aim easier in BF 3's tanks than in BC2 when it comes to long range engagement. In short range against a strafing helo, BC2 tend to be far easier. Yes, I know it a waste of time trying to get a hit on a helo with a tank but it's very tempting.

Objectives are great motivators but at least they're fixing the respawn for defenders. In BC2, the game respawned you in the opposite side and farther away than the enemy who are around your objective. In BF3, the game kept respawning me next/extremely near to the enemy. I hated it when the game repsawned me inside a shack/house because that's where the enemies are, lying in the dark corners with half of their body inside the walls.

Anyway. I'll see if it improves after the patch.

I got a kill shooting down a Heli with a tank however for some reason the heli didnt blow up, I just got the kill and the Heli just dropped out of the sky.

It was in Damavand peak, last 2 crated to defend. Spot a tank at our spawn and a Mini bird completely annihilating us. Jump in the tank, took a quick shot (very lucky) killed 2 people. I'm sure the heli as a whole should have blown up. NO, only got the kills, heli dropped out of the sky. Quickly repaired in and was using their Minibird.

Anyway, still several things to fix. I love the Scout heli's as the guns mounted on it are beastly. Damavand peak is a perfect map to jump in one a get loads of kills (got a 14 killstreak with the minibird in DamPeak).

For console I just hope they fix the Ifnv, the tac light, the air craft need to be stronger, but the most important thing... is the TDM spawning... I've gone entire games getting killed only by people who have just spawned. And sometimes i get 2-3 kills within 4 seconds by killing people who have just spawned

If it takes 3 rockets to take down a single helicopter its frigging BS! There is no way in hell a helicopter can withstand a hit from a single rocket!
