2007: Best. Year. Ever?

This year has seen the release of a slew of critically-acclaimed games: Halo 3, Rock Band, BioShock, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, etc. It's the best year ever for videogames... or is it?

Next-Gen Writes:

"If you've been listening to the conversations around the industry – on podcasts, in editorials, on messageboards – you've heard people claim that this year is quite possibly the "best year ever". In 2007 we have certainly enjoyed some great games: Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, BioShock, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, God of War II, Portal, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and on and on. With games like these, it's easy to believe that 2007 truly is the best year ever."

So far. I'm willing to bet 2008 is much better. Amazing PS3 exclusives. Silent Hill 5. Devil May Cry 4. 2008 will be a WAY better year!
Badlands, Fallout 3, SSBB,Mario Kart MGS4, Killzone 2, LBP, Resistance 2 so many more

Well, 2007 had many great games with two of them being my faves and titles I was intensly anticipating, BioShock and Assassin's Creed.
Hopefully 2008 can outperform 2007 with 3 titles of that much anticipation:
Burnout Paradise (Q1)
Fallout 3 (Q4)
Mortal Kombat 8 (TBA / Hopefully 2008)

Definitely this has been the best year for gaming, and this is not meant as a fanboy comment but especially 360, starting with lost planet and ending with Mass effect, i mean sure the Wii had erm- mario galaxy and the ps3 had uncharted, RaC TOD, maybe heavenly sword, and possibly warhawk, though i dont know since i havent played these games, anyway the point is it can only get better from here and no matter which console you get PS3 or 360 you are going to enjoy 2008, its just a shame i cant say the same for the Wii, but how there is always smash bros or wii sports 2?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit57d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing57d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9257d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
