For those of you concerned about shelling out an extra $100 for an HDMI cable for your premium PS3, here's a site that sells 6 foot HDMI cables for under $7. Other sizes also available. The cables will work with PS3 as HDMI is backwards compatible (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) and the site is highly respected amongst HT enthusiasts.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Former Naughty Dog artist Gabriel Betancourt explains why the "sweet spot" for game teams is under 200 people and how AAA "factories" kill creativity.
There’s definitely some truth to this. When teams get too large, coordination starts to outweigh creativity—layers of approval, risk aversion, and tight deadlines can turn bold ideas into “safe” ones. Keeping a team under ~200 people sounds ideal for maintaining clear communication and a shared vision. That said, massive AAA projects also come with huge technical demands and expectations, so scaling up isn’t always avoidable. The real challenge is figuring out how to keep that small-team creativity alive inside big studio structures.
i have one of those cheaply priced HDMI cables. works just fine.
unfortunately, the consumer majority don't know that there's a cheap alternative out there. instead, they buy that over-priced monster brand or the other brand which is still expensive, because that's the only thing offered at those stores.
that sells HDMI cables, 5ft. Long, and they sell them for 44.99. Which i think is pretty reasonable, its not too low to be made of low quality, and its not too high that it will bankrupt me after getting PS3 alone.
If you are going to purchase a $7 HDMI cable, you might as well just use the component cables that will most likely come with the PS3!
There is a difference between a $7 HDMI cable and a $50 HDMI cable. Don't sit here and tell me otherwise! You would only be lying!
I have been using HD technology for at least 3 years now! I have used the cheapie and expensive cables. The expensive ones do make a difference!
I think cheap cables are junk. But most people will hook up the PS3 with the cables provided anyway.
Where on the site does it say the cables are HDMI 1.3 compatiable?
BTW...PS3 has HDMI 1.3 and I think requires a HDTV with HDMI 1.3 not sure though.

I've been ordering cables from monoprice for years now including HDMI cables. In fact, I posted in this site about monoprice a couple of weeks ago. Guess n4g didn't see my post as they could have put this news up earlier. The prices charged in stores for these cables is just crazy. The monoprice cables have been tested professionally and showed excellent performance.
There is a lengthy discussion on monoprice cables here:
