CoD 4 and MW2 Map Files Found in Modern Warfare 3?

Four maps from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 have been found in Modern Warfare 3′s game files.

Mister_V5304d ago

Jesus, Crossfire would be awesome. I was a big fan of Vacant as well. I'd have preferred that over 'overgrown' but it's all good.

dark-hollow5304d ago

They're just sitting there waiting for the 15$ "classic map pack"

that brings a more truth to the famous '' mw1 + mw2 = mw3 '' saying thats floating around

irepbtown5304d ago

I still have my copy of COD4 which I regularly play. So I dont need the old map.

Either way, not a huge fan of these later COD.

BabyCarlos5304d ago

@Gumtrol: It should be called "likely" / "unlikely". The Question is just, wether you think this is plausible or not. Not if you hope for it.

Fez5304d ago

Okay okay, we get the point Obernerd. Sheesh.

Poopface the 2nd5303d ago

wow, reminds me of all the recycled maps in such great series like HALO, Uncharted, Killzone and Gears of War.

Ohh wait, its fan-service and great when those games do it, but if COD does it then it horrible.

frostypants5303d ago

Sadly, every one of those maps is better than any of the MW3 maps. Seriously, all of the new maps in this game are just awful. They feel like bad user-generate content.

Tanir5304d ago

its honestly pathetic that any moron would buy maps from the older games when those cod fanboys cud just pop in their old copy and play the maps.

not like the game plays any different

AAACE55304d ago

Uhhh... yeah, I think weapons and perks might change it a Lillian bit bud.

HardCover5303d ago

I'm sure you've done some pretty pathetic things with your money too. If not, you haven't even begun to live life yet.

Montrealien5304d ago

You know Tanir. Good people learn everyday, bad people know everything. Just reading a few of you comments, you seem to think you have the whole world figured out. Guess what that makes you.

RBLAZE19885304d ago (Edited 5304d ago )

same could be said about you since you are only insinuating and their is no proof that his comment makes him seem like he has the whole world figured out. idk about his other comments but in this case, all he did was present a logical point of view...but w/e I guess he's wrong for not bowing down to the almighty MW3.

I don't agree with his judgement of a person re-purchasing the same maps again but other than that, he really does have a point

Montrealien5304d ago

So you are defending the person who thinks you are a moron to buy re-made maps from old games in a series for the new game in the series? WoW.

you know, there is a thing called public profile, read up on the comment history of one person and it is clear how that person thinks, try it sometime, before you attack the guy attacking the douchbag call 98% of the worl nothing but generic zombies.

So, this is how Bobby Kotick pays for his hookers.

Every rehashed, over-priced, out-dated, piece of shit that you idiots purchase is just fueling his small dick getting into holes.

I did enjoy Highrise and crossfire. The one map I really want is Shipyard. Such a hectic map

Mister_V5304d ago

This. ^ Nothing else matters haha.

rustyspoon805304d ago

Shipyard was excellent but couldn't work anymore with all the Air Support IW have rammed into the games. Imagine Strafe run on shipment.

Majin-vegeta5304d ago

If this is true talk about a copy and paste job as much as i love crossfire & Overgrown they're just not gonna put detail into it like overgrown in mw2-_-.

Motorola5304d ago

Still trolling MW3 articles nonstop right?

Poopface the 2nd5303d ago

whats your favorite game?

and no, 'trolling COD articles' is not a game.

Notagain5304d ago (Edited 5304d ago )

They are using the same Engine as the first CODMW game, shouldn't surprise anyone. Just like with BlackOps, they are going to resell you the old Zombie Maps, 15$ for 2-3.

Lovable5304d ago

Can't wait to rebuy those old maps again. :)

Hicken5304d ago

Are you joking? You're joking, right? Yeah, you're joking.

0neShot5303d ago (Edited 5303d ago )

You are an idiot and an ignorant fool. These are remastered maps and the community was actually the one begging Treyarch to remaster and release old zombie maps. It was a long wait for the fans.

HenryFord5300d ago

You operate under a misconception. You see, the point most people try to make is this one:
The maps were already there, they were created beforehand for another game and the people bought it at that time. This time they just need to copy those maps over to the new game - there is not a whole lot of work to do from them. But they still charge you for it. And they charge a lot.

Hufandpuf5304d ago

Paying for old maps again I see.

Criminal5304d ago

They should be free, but Activision won't allow that.

Joe29115304d ago (Edited 5304d ago )

I'd wait and see, I think Acti are well aware the gaming community are onto them.

It would surprise me if it was free, but I'd wait and see, lets just hope they are cheaper!

Edit: Yes I was being optimistic, would be nice if they gave something to the fans for supporting for once, was the biggest launch of any form of entertainment ever.

Also forgot about elite, obviously non eliters will have to pay to justify the cost of elite.

dark-hollow5304d ago (Edited 5304d ago )

^^^^^
why free when they have hords of clueless consumers willing to buy anything activision throws at them?

MariaHelFutura5304d ago

They sold 30 million DLC packs, they wont be free.

Poopface the 2nd5303d ago (Edited 5303d ago )

I know Ive already paid for old maps with Halo, Uncharted 3, Gears of war and killzone already.

Only nine franchises make up the top 20 all-time best-selling PlayStation chart in the US

In honour of PlayStation's 30th birthday yesterday in the US, data company Circana has dug out figures showing the top 20 best-selling PlayStation video games ever (date-range Jan 1995 to July 2025). Don't get too excited.

This is a great reminder of how game sales have become more concentrated in a smaller number of games/series over time. In the PS1/PS2 era a game was a success if it sold a million or a few million copies. The GTA games (3/Vice City/San Andreas) were pretty big outliers in selling as much as they did during the PS2 era. So in the minds of a lot of gamers something like FF VII feels like it was as big of a PS1 game as God of War 2018 was for PS4, but in reality far fewer people bought it (though it has obviously reached additional people through remasters, etc.).

StoneTitan250d ago

this was alwalys the case and will always be the case. with everything

250d ago
Zerobalance250d ago (Edited 250d ago )

What this says to me is, not many people are buying a PS to play PS exclusives. Like so many false narratives, like Xbox gamers don't buy games! It seems Playstation as a default system is a vanilla system to play call of duty, Minecraft, GTA games and a sports games.

badz149250d ago (Edited 250d ago )

if you look back into the PS history, it has always been the 3rd parties who sells the most games. it was just that the PS1 and PS2 were so dominant that many of those 3rd party games were exclusives. so, back during the PS1 and PS2 days, the strategy was "to sell as many consoles as possible in order to sell more 1st party exclusives" to ride on that wave. The strategy to push many 1st party exclusives to sell consoles only started with the PS3 when many of those prior 3rd party exclusives went multiplat but more accurately, it started with the PSP.

Sony saw with the PSP, which was being trounced in sales by the DS, that 3rd party exclusives are hard to come by if you're not dominating the market. So they started building more 1st party games and when the PS3 were facing difficulties in sales, they knew they had to rely on their own to differentiate the PS3 from the 360. So the strategy back then changed to "release more 1st party exclusives in order to sell more consoles".

the only manufacturer that is still consistently selling their hardware to play 1st party exclusives, is Nintendo, and that was because they gave up the armrace for power thus they can't rely on 3rd parties anymore as all multiplats play better on competing consoles. AND that's also why they are the most ominous in going after emulators and also patent trolling!

so, you're not wrong there, but not an "aha!" moment or anything. it has been this way since the last, at least, 15 years for Playstation.

Deathdeliverer249d ago

@zerobalance

So... what this tells you is that Call of duty, being the absolute check writer that it is, has been outsold by Last of us, God of war, 2 Spider man games..... Saying Playstation exclusives doesn't sell is like saying call of duty doesn't sell because they have outsold some of iterations. Does that make sense to you?

Modern Warfare 3 flooded with cheaters after arrival on Xbox Game Pass

Players are using hacks to gain an advantage in the game, such as aimbots and wall hacks. The first gives a player superhuman aiming abilities, while a wall hack lets you see through walls to gauge where other players are.

Jin_Sakai658d ago (Edited 658d ago )

“These hacks are typically used by PC players, but those playing on PC via Xbox Game Pass are identified as Xbox players in multiplayer lobbies.”

This is pretty dumb to say the least.

Cacabunga657d ago

All about them headshots for Xbox

badz149658d ago

Gotta pump those numbers up

blackblades657d ago

That's a WTF, they suppose to be labeled as pc users even if its on PC game pass. They mess that up big time.

XiNatsuDragnel658d ago

Oh bad this will be entertaining to watch

ZycoFox657d ago

If AI keeps getting better (and it will) it's just a matter of time before there's more sophisticated cheats even for consoles, and they wouldn't even need to be running on it, I have little doubt about that.

lelo2play658d ago

Don't Gamepass online games have anti-cheat systems?
If not, that's pretty dumb. Microsoft need to fix that asap.

Rynxie658d ago (Edited 658d ago )

They won't ever fix this problem, unless they (developers, publishers, Sony and MS) go after the cheat providers directly. You no longer need to hack consoles to use hacks. During the ps360 days, they were going after cheat devices, but it was a cat and mouse game. These cheating methods were around during those days, it's nothing new, but they kept it under control. Since the PS4/Xbox one generation, they stopped going after these cheating devices and it became widespread. Which I find odd, since they started charging for online play (PS4).

StormSnooper657d ago (Edited 657d ago )

Possibly, this is because the companies were going after cheats because the same cheats were being used to pirate the games, whereas today, the companies use online verification to prevent piracy, thus eliminating the need to go after people who cheat only to gain an advantage in the game. As long as the cheater remains below the radar, and does not completely break the game, the companies look the other way as their wallets are not threatened by it. (that is my completely Uneducated opinion on the matter)

pwnmaster3000658d ago

I mean, COD games was always filled with hackers, nothing new. I can’t blame MS on this. Activision had years to try and fix this. Might take MS some time to make some change.

Rude-ro657d ago

It all depends…
Microsoft’s guidance on how to handle gamepass on pc and their love to force crossplay with pc seems like a them issue.
And they own activision, so it is still a them issue.

StormSnooper657d ago

lol well that sucks.

Is there a reason this happened upon arrival on xbox?
