There have been many arguments over the past decade on why the design, perspective, and scope that were utilized in order to create the original Baldur's Gate are no longer capable of creating a successful title in the modern-day video game industry. People just don't want a party-based, stats-heavy, isometric RPG anymore, right? Well, not according to a new poll of over 1000 game developers that picked Baldur's Gate as their all-time favorite game.
Hope writes: "Classic RPGs make up some of the most formative examples of late '90s to early 2000s PC gaming in my memory, but I also remember when they weirdly disappeared. If you loved games like the original Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, or Planescape, and also wondered why we stopped seeing these kinds of titles for a bit there, well it turns out you can blame physical retailers for the decline in Dungeons-and-Dragons-style PC RPGs."
I would have loved to have bought Baldur's Gate 3 if it would have had a physical release (not the censored Japanese release).
Why can't you just buy the physical release? I have an opened one on Xbox and a sealed collector's edition for PS5.

Buy the euro version? That is available to purchase. The North American version was limited and sells for a good amount on eBay.

Fun game but, wow, you need a college degree to understand the controls.
A remaster would also save you from having to constantly fight the camera.
Keep the music though. Those drum and bass tracks fit really well and haven't aged. Made me think that more games could work well with drum and bass tracks, but unfortunately it's a somewhat niche genre now.
i could have sworn i read somewhere that Remedy is remaking May Payne 1 but things have been quiet lately

I have to agree this game was so good, its a shame they don't make game that ooze personality and ambiance like this anymore.
I remember starting a second game and creating a character i literally spent 3 hours rolling the dice and counting totals for the best possible combination. I still have my copy
Only ever played the second one but WOOOW it was amazing. They just don't make RPGS as awesome as that anymore :(
dragon age was getting closer, but instead of refinning it they detroyed it for the sequel. Shame.
