It’s been predicted by some that our mobile devices are killing the handheld gaming market. With games like Virtual City Playground and Steambirds: Survival in the iTunes app store, there are definitely good reasons to leave your handheld and home. While the vast majority of apps are nowhere near the caliber of the highest rated DS and PSP titles, gamers are beginning to see some of their most beloved titles (Katamari and Scribblenauts for example) ported over to their iOS devices. And with the ever improving processors in smartphones, the potential of apps is only increasing. Check out this week’s selection to see if you agree.
Build an amusement park and provide unforgettable thrills for your citizens!
As the mayor of your Virtual City, you’ve probably wondered how to keep your citizens amused and attract new residents to your thriving town. It’s easy with the latest free update from G5 Entertainment – download the Virtual City Playground®: Building Tycoon version 1.15 to your Mac and start constructing an amusement park!

NZGamer: Virtual City Playground is the latest city management title from G5 Games, following on from last year's Virtual City for PC and iPhone. The game is operated via simple, one-finger screen taps and swipes.

Original Gamer - Bulkypix seems to be one of the more heavily focused developers on this site, although their previous releases haven’t exactly set the world on fire. Their search for pick-up-and-play gold on the iPhone continues with Crazy Escape, which tasks players with rescuing loose sheep from wolves whilst driving a jeep with two penguins behind the wheel. Considering that Angry Birds focuses on birds with a penchant for catapults and their attempts to rescue stolen eggs from pigs, Crazy Escape definitely has the wackiness down, but when it comes to not being able to put your device down instead, is the game good?
