i personally liked the Russian part the best. How come some games do that. Make you feel like American marines are boring and Russian special forces aren't.

Well. I absolutly love the singleplayer part.

Sure it's a little on rail, scripted and all, but I love it, every scene is a blast to play, it's so immersive.

Has anybody noticed how an AI and yourself can sometimes walk in water? Literally, if you're walking over a fountain in the middle of the street, you walk on water :/

I would have thought DICE are smart enough to add a splash effect. Crysis 2 did.

I love the game, but a big failure to me is the destruction. I was thinking I would be able to tear down buildings like Bad Company only much better, only to find out it's extremely limited...

This is a great game! Cry babies and campers may take issue with the no killstreaks thing.

Yeah, the campaign sucks just like all other military shooters. The only good thing about the SP is the sick graphics and that jet mission. Multiplayer is as good as ever though.

I'm playing the campaign and its actually worse than MW2 in some areas, and that's depressing. Unknown enemies randomly kill you without any idea where and why, hard to see at times, generic beyond belief, way too many "sit here and watch or do nothing" areas that last way to long and so far dumb story, I sat through the first 2 cutscenes and now I just skip all.

Oh and most of the environment is non destructible which is disappointing. Also whats with the "return to battle zone" (or something like that) I got in an early level, they gave me 5 seconds then killed me.UGH.

I haven't been able to play it yet because my left mouse button won't work. I've read on the forums that it will work if I unplug all USB devices, but frankly I can't be bothered to do that every time I want to play the game.

Anyway, I've been watching people play the campaign on JTV and the worst things about it to me seem to be that it's far too linear, the levels are very small for a battlefield game and you hardly get to use vehicles (why couldn't they include a mission where you pilot a jet?).

Whenever I see an enemy AI and my friendly AI standing in the middle of the road 10 feet from each other both shooting at other people I'm always left p***ed off.
The AI on this game is average at best and is something devs really need to up for the next generation of consoles.

Devs: Harder game levels don't necessarily mean over accurate hip shooting enemies, put some thought into it please.

I've been noticing a LOT of glitches and silly things in the campaign, and here are a few of them:

- You can shoot out the bulbs out of the circular metal lamps that hang on the walls (ones with bugs under them), but the light pattern remains. Why even allow us to shoot them out??

- Seams of level are visible through some walls

- In the part where the wire is traced from the humvee, shooting or throwing grenades at the civilians that surround the vehicle has no effect

- Cardboard boxes are indestructible, yet a wooden pallet explodes into tiny pieces with 3 bullets

- Rubble and some bodies disappear the instant they touch the ground

- The machine gun on the T90 tank has a solid square tip

- AI is pretty bad at times, both friendly and enemy

- Constantly respawning enemies in some parts, unless you push forward COD4-style

- Jets have unlimited missiles, rounds and flares

etc etc

Battlefield is often visually impressive, but these things really break the immersion. I hate to sound like a COD fanboy, but those game generally have more polish.

BF3 rules.

Every time I start up BF3, I play the campaign for about 10 minutes. Then I remember how much more I enjoy the multiplayer and switch over. I have to admit, the SP IS a bore, but who really cares? I liked BFBC2's SP more, but even then it was the same thing. Pop some bots, remember how BF is all about MP, and switch over without a second thought!

Everyone who states that this game didn't deliver, or isn't a COD killer, or is a major disappointment must have had bizarre expectations. Why would a game that has a long history as an MP game (I still remember so fondly my first round of 1942 when it came out,) be judged on it's weakest and most irrelevant component?

You should add the "You Can Be My Wingman Anytime" trophy/achievement.

Yeah some parts of the campaign on Hard are quite difficult, but you can get it done in about 7/8 hours.

Battlelog & Origin are chief fails in my book, Origin is recognised as a trojan virus? because it roots through your HDD to find information about you.

Also the poorly designed maps were you run for an hour on foot to get shot by a tank purely because there is nowhere near enough vehicles for 32 players.

But cant wait for the karkland expansion!

Although I can't disagree with the issues in this article, I can't believe anyone would be surprised at the issues the campaign has. Multiplayer was the focus and it shows. It is more enjoyable and significantly more accedible.

Does any one think the game has too much contrast? Making it hard to see from distance. I think the graphics were better in bad company.

This article sucks... Most of these are minor points regarding the singleplayer, and we all know that Battlefield games are not meant for the singleplayer.

It's actually surprising that a developer can make a SP that bad when they tried to make it good.

BF4 should just have MP, instead of crap SP include more maps and game modes.

As much people say Battlefield 3 is all about multiplayer they cant admit its still disapointing i feel that BF3 is no better ( neither worse but still... ) than Bad Company 2 but that´s only my opinion.

The failure lies with who ever actually purchased BF3 for the campaign. LOL

ive played the both bad company games in IMO the reason those were really fun was the characters in bad company were hilarious. It was a typical FPS to me but the guys made it fun. Removing the funny back & forth really made the genericness of this game show through. I mean come on how awesome is "im gonna go save me some cherleaders"

Wow, you can really tell who is an immature teenage fanboy just by reading his comment... Dear Lord, some of you make me sick to my stomach. If you hopped on the hype wagon and bashed MW3 in the previous months and now bash BF3 you are scum... All "CoD players Run and Gun and don't know anything about tactics?" The ignorant child who said that has obviously never called in a nuke on MW2... This game's Multiplayer is one of the best I have ever played in my life... The single player is nothing special but the levels involving former Spetsnaz Operative Dima are some of my all time favorite... And the CO-OP is really REALLY GOOD! There are a few bugs but the game is worth buying... Casual gamers and those not suited to more strategic and complex combat might not like it... because they usually like easier games like CoD. But thats ok.

I don't know about 5 failures but I do know one... And its big, and it has the potential to taint the whole game. It's the first level of the single player. It is not a good representation of the game... Honestly a big miss step by Dice. I was so under whelmed by that level I fear many may think it represents what the whole game is about.

BF3 is a very good game...save for chapter 1.

I thought there would have been at least some legitimate reasons on the list..

MY issues are
1. Problems with hit detection in campaign
2. Weapon refuses to fire in PM

Otherwise it's an awesome game.

I totally agree with the author's point of view.
I'll add that scripted, forever coming back enemies is also another pain in the back.

For exemple, when rushing to enter the bank sideways, stay in front of it and kill any enemy shooting at you from the second level : they'll get replaced evrey 2 seconds ! You can wipe out an entire division, but no, those terrorists seem to possess the 'infinite troops' perk !

They should just make these games 100% online because the only military shooters worth playing single player are the Tom Clancy ghost recon games or rainbow six series. When the media stop licking the arses of COD and battlefield then they might get round to doing some investigative journalism on games where we can play without it being over in 10 minutes, been severely half arsed or having to put up with annoying kids or adults without girlfriends just get our £40 worth out of a military shooter.

You MP guys dont understand that there is no difference between BF3 and the old Unreal game. You stil do capture the flag and the same game modes only on a different scene. Us sigleplayers enjoy a dose of story and adventure while u guys want the same thing in another engin. Your like kids who goes from dagga to cocain looking for the ever higher fix and finding the same thing. This is why you fool yourself into thinking BF3 MP is better than Black Ops`s whereas yu do the same thing. Sinleplayer is there for us and MP is there for you guys. Naf said, see me next year when COD MW4 is hyped and you diss BF3 & MW3.

Article is spot-on imo. The Online pass was a really bad idea. We cannot even access the coop mode and play it single player without an online pass or xbox live gold membership.

The single player campaign is awful and represents everything that is bad with on-rails linear game design. I hated all the recent CoD's and this is even worse.

Many BF fans keep saying "you have to remember its all about teh MP!" But that isn't true anymore, because now the game has a single player campaign too. We are not discussing the old MP only focussed BF here, we're talking about the modern one that is supposed to be delivering an all around fun experience for every type of gamer. So if it comes with single player then gamers who play it and dislike it have every right to criticise it.

All the positive reviews just aren't taking into account the crappy single player and that is not a good message to send out to publishers, who'll just think its okay to spawn more of that crap onto the market.

am i the only one who actually enjoyed the campaign? yes, every criticism i've read about it is completely valid and i agree with pretty much every one. but i still enjoyed it. it's no half life 2 or bioshock, but i never expected it to be on that level. and when i think back, i certainly enjoyed it more than any call of duty campaign since 2.

BF3? They need to go back to BF2 for the mainline. Heck, I'd settle for true-to-source remakes of BF2 and BC2 (w/ Vietnam). Everything they've done in the 'modern' era is just bad.

I've not played 2042 myself but after v I don't feel like it. I played a few hours of v with friends but it feels ultra sterile I can't figure it out but the game looks and feels clinical. The storys in the campaign were also bland and uninteresting and felt like a dull trudge through checkpoints as you waited for an ending.

I've played the franchise dating back to it's original PC launch and PS2 spin off games I did enjoy 1 overall and it's take on placing you in different scenarios and battles was interesting but not all that good imo as you couldn't really connect with any characters longer than 2 hours.

hardline for all the hate it recived was a fun story and a new take but a bad mp game

I feel like v overall was the turning point and instead of showing the gritty reality of war they turned everything sterile and presented it in a clean cut boring frame in order to pump it full of weird micro transactions overall they spent far to much time on trying to implant ray tracing and other graphical flourishes and forgot to make the game enjoyable

I mean thats all we've wanted since BF4 but they keep doing everything we don't want.
