5 Things Arkham City Did Wrong

Batman: Arkham City is definitely one of 2011's most hotly anticipated games and a solid contender to walk away with Game of the Year. From my experience with it so far, I'd agree that Arkham City is one of the finest action/adventure games ever to grace the Xbox 360, with near-perfect scores from massive gaming outlets such as IGN and Gamespot.

Some great points... Agree with them all

Someone had to be that guy who points out all the problems with a game. I suppose everything has it's flaws but, really? Hate articles like this...

DaveM5305d ago

I love the game, don't get me wrong. I'm simply pointing out why it fell short of a 10/10 score...

It's an amazing game, and the best superhero game ever, but I too had small naggings with it.

I felt you were thrown into the world too quick in the opening. It was great what they did, but it was just boom you're here now deal with it.

The only other problem was that it felt disjointed since everything was practically a big open world, with portals for where you needed to go. I didn't have a problem with this, but after doing it over and over and over it gets a bit tedious.

Definitely one of the best games this year, and this gen, but a few minor annoyances.

TopDudeMan5305d ago

I just think these little things the writer is pointing out may ruin the game for someone who is currently playing it and enjoying it.

Bad Bosses AGAIN? You'd have thought they'd have learnt a thing or two from the boss fights from the first game, which were mostly the same type of fight.

GraySnake5305d ago (Edited 5305d ago )

I'm sorry but points 1,2, and 3 are just plain stupid.

1. It's called select for indoors and when you're outside...just look at the damn sky, there is a BAT SYMBOL POINTING DOWN ON WHERE YOU SHOULD GO.

2. And what happened to the Bat at the steel mill? oh right. Priorities. and also it was the prefect misdirection, and let the game be just a bit more surprising.

3. whatever. if you thought these were bad, then how were arkham asylum's?

Muitnorts5305d ago

While I agree that the navigation wasn't much of an issue for me I think he has a point with the other two.

Hugo Strange wasn't in the game at all. I never built a connection to him or thought of him as any more dangerous than the other villains.
Also the boss fights were pretty bad at times. I'd say the Solomon Grundy fight was worse than anything in Arkham Asylum.

Jocosta5305d ago

It's a bit nit-picky, and I am sure many will disagree, but Batman's physique is way overblown, for christ's sake, he is not a bodybuilder.

Pozzle5305d ago (Edited 5305d ago )

I can look past Batman being huge because he's Batman. But why was every other guy in the game built like a tank? Did every criminal do years of weight training before they became a criminal? lol
It would have been cool if some thugs were skinnier (yet faster), or if some were built like regular guys, or if some were better at kicking than punching or vice-versa. It would have added some variety to the combat if different thugs had different skills, and would have also made the thugs seem like different people instead of just being all the same.

Not to mention, Gordon (for the small amount of screentime he appeared in) seemed to be as bug as Batman. Lol, did he get into the weight training too?

Belasco5305d ago

My thoughts exactly, why are ALL of the characters so huge? The Joker and the female characters are the only ones that seemed normal. And yes I agree that it would add alot to gameplay having some variety with the thugs.

Treyb3yond5305d ago

It is a comic book world, so it's par for the course. Everything in comics like this is overblown.

I'm loving the game and I refuse to spoil it with nitpicking. It's a masterpiece.

Jocosta5304d ago

I disagree, save for the Dark Knight Returns Batman was always depicted as athletic, not huge and ripped, and even in the comics not every thug was gigantic.
