Massively: The Old Republic Beta Hands-On

Massively writer, Jef Reahard just played Bioware's The Old Republic and his impression is less than sparkling. "SWTOR simply isn't an MMO (or at least, it's not the kind I grew up with and wish to play past the free month..."

Well, from someone who obviously didn't expect much from this game, I take it that TOR might actually be worth a try.

A shame he didn't go into the coop aspect of the game more(or the competitive aspect either for that matter).

But I strongly disagree that single- and multiplayer experiences don't mingle well.
Just look at Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

lmao, this is the most over hyped and most overrated game release along with skyrim. I played beta twice, hoping high levels would get better but my god is swtor the most boring shit ive played in such a long time. I honestly have more fun with FF XIV. So sad, had potential but cancelled my pre order and ill abuse of beta and use it as a free game. Thank bioware, better luck next time, but its GW2 for me!

Honestly looking for a good reason to cancel my collectors edition...I really cannot justify £130 for it although selling it on for a bit of profit is possible but I dont know I didnt like the way it played to be honest at the Eurogamer expo.

already canceled my pre order seen more gameplay footage and i just said to myself forget it to many other games to play not enough time for an mmo. anyways guild wars 2 is coming out next year.

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.

The updates felt flimsy to me also. Stopped playing in 2021.

This game got a huge update last year didn't it with more content?

PapaBop1157d ago

They promoted it as an expansion yet offered like 3-4 hours of content. The game is amazing and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made but content drops are so few and far between.
