TGV Review: Rocksmith

Kyle writes: A lot of people are going to tell you that you shouldn’t get Rocksmith. “It’s too niche,” they’ll say. “It’s too hard,” they’ll say. “Music games are dead,” they’ll say. But here’s the skinny—Rocksmith is niche, is hard, and, for the most part, music games are dead.

Aside from the fact that Harmonix is releasing new downloadable content for Rock Band 3 every week, there are no new iterations of it or Guitar Hero on the horizon. But Rocksmith isn’t a music game, per se, but it is a guitar game. “What’s the difference?” you ask?

Could be the excuse I am looking for to learn more guitar.

Sidology5343d ago

That is EXACTLY what this game should do for you.

borisfett5343d ago

This isn't just an excuse to play it. It's the reason to do it. =P

Won't come cheap though.

RoboRyan5343d ago

It's not cheap, but when you calculate the cost of buying a guitar and taking lessons, it works out to be a decent value.

Spitfire_Riggz5343d ago

Can you use your own guitar? Do they provide a connector?

RoboSpiff5343d ago

This game intrigues me, but at the same time I know I will suck at it.

Sidology5343d ago

The beauty is that you will not suck if you invest time in it!

kikizoo5343d ago

The beauty of real art, real instrument, is that even with work, you can't be sure to be good (unlike guitar hero, rock band)

borisfett5343d ago

That's the whole point, mate. It teaches you to suck a little less. =P

Sorat kinda think Rocksmith looks pretty sweet.

Desert Turtle5343d ago

I can't even play a Guitar Hero guitar.
