All of these famous guitarists were self-taught — driven by willpower, determination, experimentation, trial and error. When Rocksmith launches on October 18, 2011 in North America, it will invite people who have fantasized about playing guitar to throw away their fake plastic instruments, and pick up the genuine article.
I spent a mere 20 minutes with Rocksmith at this year’s E3 and came away impressed, but how does Rocksmith hold up when it’s not being presented by developers and hyped by PR folks in a controlled environment? I’ve spent four days with Ubisoft’s ambitious guitar tutor (a miniscule amount of time when considering how long it takes to master the guitar), and wanted to briefly document my progress before posting a full review.
