Microsoft is hoping that its Tuesday launch of the video game Mass Effect will provide the next big hit for its Xbox 360 gaming console.
Microsoft is introducing Mass Effect, which can only be played on the Xbox 360, to considerable hype. In addition to launch events, the Sci Fi Channel will air a special tonight that looks at the game's making.
Mass Effect is already pulling in accolades. It was voted Best Console Game and Best Role Playing Game at the 2007 Game Critic Awards.
Microsoft is no doubt hoping that Mass Effect will rack up sales similar to those enjoyed by Halo 3, a first person shooter that the company unveiled in September. The title broke game industry records by tallying sales of $170 million on its first day of availability.
Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."
I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed
Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.
I feel the same way.
I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?
Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.
Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

Anyways when I picked up Mass Effect the GameStop I shop at had 3 boxes of ME on pre orders alone sitting behind the counter.
And all I can say is....WOW!
I just bought this game and I beat the first planet. All I can say is it's awesome. back to playing!
