This Generation's Most Satisfying Endings

Carl B. of iNintendo.net writes, "A game's ending, in most cases, can either make or break the overall experience for the player. Unfortunately, this generation has been filled with endings that aren't up to par with the rest of the title, leaving players with an empty feeling that hurts their perception of the game. Nevertheless, there have been plenty of titles to release this generation that featured fantastic endings."

I love the Portal games. The ending was very exciting.

Portal 2's ending did not satisfy me because the song was disappointing compared to the one in the the first game's credits. I think Portal 1's ending should be on the list :P

Super Mario Galaxy 2's ending after 242 stars however, was the ultimate satisfaction ;) 10 out of 10. A complete masterpiece!

I would love to see The Last Story come to the U.S., it looks like a great game

I am not a fan of the Red Dead Redemption ending. The build up was poor. I almost gave up before the ending because it got very stale. In theory it would be nice but ,like films, have to keep things interesting. This then ruined what could have been a good ending. I was satisfied it ended because the build up dragged on

It felt like it was put in there for the sake of it

<Spoiler>

The best character Rockstar created and they killed him. How did he know that the government would stop going after Abbi and Jack....he didn't know for sure if they wern't going to kill them after they killed him. They should of made it so they killed Abbi and Jack...while John, a broken man, should of went of the run, least then you could of had Red Dead 3 set a few years after RDR......I mean who really likes Jack, he annoyned the crap out of me

<spoilers>

The endings build up was to make it seem like everything was going to be okay for John and his family but in the end he couldn't be redeemed for his past actions by the government so he was killed. The way some of the dialog go throughout the game between John and the marshals foreshadow this if you every play it again. They say things like "once a criminal, always a criminal" and things like that. I noticed it on my second play.

The game felt grounded with the ending imo since that was the only way it of went to from the start without deviating from its tone and mood.

"The endings build up was to make it seem like everything was going to be okay". That is fine and all and like I said on paper it seems like a good idea but in a game you can't do that. playing those last missions were more of a chore. I already done a lot of the things at the beginning of the game. For me it made me careless about what happened right at the end. I was so fed up I was wishing it to end. You have to keep the momentum up in games otherwise things get stale especially after tens of hours playing it

Rage...oh wait. No. Ignore that.

I quite like the combined endings of the GTA 4 saga. I also liked the ending of God of War 3.

Brownghost5324d ago

What was so great of gow 3 ending. He stabs himself and the whole world is destroyed

Pintheshadows5324d ago

If you're going to just type the ending put spoiler alerts for anyone who hasn't played it. And if you'd played the other God of War games you might understand how poignant the ending is.

Brownghost5324d ago

great game but story wise not so great compared to others. Ill wait for the sequel to see what they do and everyone knows what happens and its no big deal

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83120d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard121d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator120d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake120d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion154d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension140153d ago (Edited 153d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
