RAGE has been criticized on all platforms since its launch on October 4th, especially the PC version of id Software’s shooter. John Carmack, technical director of the game’s developer, has now said the studio can’t improve the PlayStation 3 ‘s performance much more, as well as saying the platform has ‘tight memory’ and poor ‘IO performance’.

Id Software is celebrating 35 years and teasing new offerings in press release.

Employees at Doom studio id Software have voted in favour of union representation with the Communications Workers of America (CWA).
I hope the devs can break away from MS and take their IP's with them in the not to distant future. This entire consolidation and mass industry firings that MS has spearheaded has been nothing but a disaster for everyone except the already rich creatively bankrupt tw@ts at Microsoft.
MS is nothing but a drain on the entire gaming industry and every facet of it.
Good for them. With AI coming for their jobs and their new corporate overlords working overtime to replace them, it’s a smart move.
It won't be long before Microsoft lays off everyone in gaming and routes that money over into AI.
Time for everyone at Xbox to update the resume and start coming up with Indie game pitches.
The point of unionizing is collective bargaining. Sadly, I do not believe they have any leverage, which is likely why Microsoft isn't impeding them: The investment in AI is gargantuan. We're talking about a data center in Wisconsin that's about 200 city blocks. That is massive and insane.
QuakeCon 2025 is officially underway, with the largest LAN party in North America also being the place for exciting news for id Software titles. From the return of a keystone franchise in the FPS genre to updates for DOOM: The Dark Ages, DOOM Eternal and more.
Carmack needs to stop dissing the PS3, and just focus on his games.
Uncharted 3
for your own shortcomings as a dev is retarded imho. There are many other developers who's done much better games than RAGE on the PS3, so how is it possible that it's not possible to produce a good product? If your game has issues on a particular version than it's obvious you haven't done justice to your work and have failed as a developer. You should go back to to drawing board, especially after failing to delivery with a game which took years to develop, rather than blaming console X as being not powerful enough.
smh.
Coding genius? Oh, you mad.
What's with this guy talking about ps3 like this? This guy is going mad
