We all know about the games coming up and how awesome they will be, but let us look back at the games already released this year that need mentioning.

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Mojang has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to build the world's first Minecraft theme park in the UK.

A three-episode live-action adaptation of the first two Yakuza video games will debut Tuesday, March 17 exclusively IGN. Each episode is about an hour long and will stream on IGN.com and IGN’s YouTube channel.
I would cut that list down quite a bit, but yeah, there's a lot of GOTY contenders this year; maybe more than any other year.
This would be my list, based on what's out, and what we know about what's coming:
Uncharted 3 (strong candidate)
Portal 2 (strong candidate - seriously)
Battlefield 3/Modern Warfare 3 (I'm really hoping these don't win)
Infamous 2 (weak GOTY contender compared to the rest)
Batman: Arkham City (really amazing game)
Skyrim/Witcher 2 (RPG of the year, weak GOTY chance)
I honestly think it'll be between Portal 2 and Uncharted 3. And to be honest, either deserves it. I'm not the biggest valve fan, but Portal 2 should be a standard in game design. Uncharted 2/what we know of 3 - excellent story with fully fleshed out multiplayer. I would hate to pick between the 2 of these. Next year looks like an easier choice (ME3?).
Skyrim
I know a lot of those games would never be GOTY competitors but they have their own niche that they reign supreme in for sure like Terraria for example.
