Actiontrip reviews Mass Effect

Highs: Unbelievable emotional depth given to the appearance of characters, story, combat system, interesting moral dilemmas which finally transcend the most obvious choices between our notions of good and evil;

Lows: Side quests and their locales too generic, some bad voice acting, occasional bugs, Bioware's proprietary world doesn't appear imaginative and compelling enough, needed more cool "spells" later in the game.

Stability: A few odd bugs

Learning curve: Moderate

Final Score: 91 out of 100.

suggests that texture pop-in and frame rate during action are the 2 biggest bugs so far, but outweighed by the positives. Hope that's the case... I have to wait for Christmas to find out. boo-hoo

If it already occurs in a system with 512MB unified memory, imagine what a console with 512MB split memory with workarounds would have...

Those things are just minor in total experience as far as I've read into it. Furthermore: some stuff might get patched along the way and get ironed out in no time.

hmm I am wondering if Unreal Engine 3 is the cause of a lot of the trouble. But then even KOTOR had technical problems(which did nothing against its awesomeness btw)

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno189d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb189d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1084d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
