GameDynamo - "Resident Evil: Code Veronica X is something akin to watching B-movie actors hamming it up in an old black and white picture."

omg for real thats to low
in my opinion this was the last good horror resident evil besides 4

DarkBlood5338d ago

eh nothing to worry about its merely an opinion review its clear he doesnt think the game is awsome

jeeves865338d ago

Reviews are opinions. If you want an objective review, read the back of the game box or the product page.

DarkBlood5338d ago

thats what im saying the reviewer doesnt think much of it but he @prince does

princejb1345338d ago

hell yea darkblood im hurt by this review lol

Pozzle5338d ago

Eh. I'd hardly call it unplayable. Maybe the reviewer just wasn't very good at the game? Yeah, the controls are a pain, but it takes about an hour-or-so to adjust to the old style of controls and fully get used to it. By the time you play as Chris, you'll have plenty of ammo and health to be able to breeze through the second half of the game. And yeah the story and voice acting is cheesy as hell, but was anyone genuinely expecting Capcom to completely re-do it? If someone wants a more serious and modern take on the game, play Darkside Chronicles.

With that being said, the graphical upgrade really is atrocious for a so-called "HD remake". And while the dynamic lighting looks nice and the slightly updated character models are quite pretty, the FMVs are hideous and some cutscenes are so blurry it's hard to see the characters' features. Though I would argue that Capcom seemed to do a better job of upscaling Code Veronica than they did RE4. I can't even tell the difference between the PS2 version and the HD versionof RE4. Hell, some areas (particularly the cutscenes in Separate Ways) look like they're being played on a Standard Definition tv. They're that ugly. :/

Honestly, I don't understand how these re-releases can still be given such great scores. This site gives the RE4 re-release a 75. It's RE4, it's still a great game, sure. The original release is still a great game, but it's been re-released countless times on so many different platforms. The graphical update is half-assed at best and it offers little else that's new.

I think the worst part is that people complain that there's nothing new on the market, it's still the same old shit - yet they eat this stuff up like it's going out of style.

Castlevania and Resident Evil are always good

Neonridr1690d ago

the old stuff here vastly outshines the newer stuff, lol

How about scraping Games with Gold and reducing both XB Live Gold and XB GamePass Ultimate by $5 per month.

I don't mind the games with gold, but in reality it has been a long time since I really cared about what came on games with gold.

John_McClane1690d ago

Getting rid of the gold paywall entirely works for me.

@John_McClane
I believe in paying for services you use. You look at the console vendors and they run a network that tracks your gamer profile, does your games saves, and provides an environment for multi-player. The servers and infrastructure to do this is expensive and has to be paid for somehow.

I like a direct payment method rather then hiding the costs behind something else. No matter what they have to find a way to make money off the investments they make. No company does stuff for free. Now with PSNow and XB GamePass I think both should just drop the free games (that aren't really free because they allocate Gold and Plus money to buy those games) I think it is time the the free games are dropped and the subscriptions drop in price as well.

I loved Aaero. I bought it on PS4 a few years ago and got hooked (some great tunes in there). I will happily double dip and try and grab a few achievements blitzing through the earlier difficulties again.

I havent played Code Veronica since the Dreamcast. I assume this is that but in HD?

Yui_Suzumiya1690d ago

Yeah, it had an HD remaster during the PS3 / 360 era

babadivad1690d ago

Damn, I just bought code name Veronica. Lol. I was eyeballing the Castlevania game due to the recent Tokyo Gameshow Sale, but I guess I’ll just get it here instead.

VersusDMC1690d ago

Glad I kept this one. Great game, very underrated.

Movefasta19932639d ago

lost planet 1 and 2 are gems imo

spicelicka2639d ago

2 is the one with 4 player co-op right? That was amazing! Being able to fight giant monsters in co-op was so awesome. It was like Monster hunter with guns.

Movefasta19932639d ago

it had an underrated pvp mode too
