Battlefield 3 Beta: PC Hardware Requirements Tested (BmR)

BenchmarkReviews.com: Very recently, EA and Dice released an open beta for Battlefield 3. Preceeding this release was the announcement of minimum and recommended system requirements. Since the beta is now open to the public, Benchmark Reviews uses high-end PC hardware to take a closer look at what gamers should expect to be real-world computer system hardware requirements for their CPU and RAM components.

The game is very CPU bound as of now, I have tested it on a system with i-7 2600k and two 570's and a rig with an i-7 2600 and a single 560 ti and the performance was VERY similar, only about a 15 fps gain with the two better cards, I imagine many optimizations will take place before the full release. LET's HOPE!!!

iamgoatman5341d ago

Poor SLI scaling as well perhaps?

STONEY45341d ago

I'm suprised how well it ran on my single GTX 560 Ti maxed. I know the final game has to have more advanced settings. 1920x1080, 4xAA, it fluctuates from 30-50 outdoors, and indoors it's constant 60+. I find the indoor graphics much more impressive though. Caspian Border had a fair bit of pop-in too, so I imagine the game isn't completely optimized yet.

Make the CPU's do more. CPU's today are cheap and powerful. you can get a 4 core cpu for under a $100 now.

Besides there is a lot of Physics going on in BF3 which easily explains the heavy CPU use. Huge maps to draw with destruction is a nice workout for any CPU.

Nvidia and AMD have been all over BF3 making sure CF and SLi scaling are good as well as GPU drivers in general! this is ground breaking support for a Beta!!

DICE is getting a MEGA TON of data from these Beta's and more optimizations and game fixes will be applied before the game goes gold this week and a huge patch is coming after release.

I maxed out everything but AA (turned off) at 1440x900 with a
i3 550

and it runs SMOOTH very rarely will it dip

i maxed this at 1280 by 720p(i honestly do not notice a diff between 1080p and 720) at like 60-70fps with my 6850

ATi_Elite5341d ago (Edited 5341d ago )

1080p requires less AA and has clearer and more texture detail like tiny words on boxes can easily be read and you can see more detail in brick wood, uniforms etc..

are you playing on a TV (if TV is it 720p or 1080p) or monitor (if monitor whats the native res of it)

outwar60105341d ago

i'm playing on a montior max res is 1920 by 1080p so playing at 1080p generally what aa level do you use?

arjman5341d ago

Dude up the res, I'm playing at 1680x1050 (max monitor res -_-) and getting 60 fps outdoors and up to 100 indoors

Battlefield 3 beta drivers..Works perfect for me at least :) I run everything on ULTRA..EVERYTHING maxed out and with 120hz refreshrate

iamgoatman5341d ago

You're using 3 GTX580s on a single monitor? Holy CPU bottleneck Batman!

KiLLeRCLaM5341d ago

What do you mean? I have no problems :)

ATi_Elite5341d ago

he's running 3D and Physx with max graphics and getting AWESOME framerates!

He probably could vsync any game at 70 fps for butter smooth gaming.

plus he has a Core i7 2600K o.C. to 4.8mhz

in other words he has NO bottleneck!

outwar60105341d ago

those temps are riddiculous!!! water cool everything ASAP

KiLLeRCLaM5341d ago

97C is the max safe temp for those cards..so I'm good :) but cooler wouldn't hurt..if i max the fans at 85% fan speed then its about 70-78C

Battlefield 3 Cut Missions From Campaign Detailed by Former DICE Dev

Battlefield 3's former Lead Designer has revealed that there were two cut missions from the main campaign

XiNatsuDragnel495d ago

I wish someone can get those EA game leaks to see all the cut content ngl

anast494d ago

Get rid of campaigns, move the game to mobile, and try to compete with warzone. They would save time and money.

Bf4 was fun hope the new bf is just as good.

hmmm I think there will be no old BF glory days for EA since they are loyal to their greediness and laziness :D

Knightofelemia1280d ago

You're asking for a miracle with EA that will never happen unless they can exploit the money making schemes behind it.

MadLad1280d ago

We'll see what happens now that Zampella is overlooking the series.
