Is a Mass Effect MMO a good idea?

BioWare is contemplating the idea of a Mass Effect MMO, but would it even work well?

MMO's are the new wave. Next Console Gen will be full of them so therefore you can expect a MMO to made from almost any game......Tetris included.

on the flipside the PC currently has a ton of cool MMO's coming out.....F2p and subscription based.

The MMO is KING!!

I think it would be a rather bad idea. Considering how one of the things that makes Mass Effect so great is the way that your actions actually have a great impact in the world which I don't think would be quite as possible with an mmo and of course your interesting crew members.

i dont see why that wouldnt be possible... simply on a diferent scale, you could still have all those decisions, but they would affect each quest in specific, maybe even what quests you can do, or what places you go, or what type of enemies you will face, there is a lot of ways the choice aspect can be implemented into a Mass Effect MMO.

Considering just how big the mass effect universe has become, i think it could be a really good idea, imagine creating your character, you can choose between all the races, maybe even factions between the races like joining the military or cerberus, choosing which clan to join as a krogan. Do quests to join C-Sec, etc, etc

I think it has a lot of potential, especially in Bioware's hands

Console MMO yes. There is a huge void of a great console MMO. There is a market for it.

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno194d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb194d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1089d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
