In regard to grenades, I feel like I've been able to throw them further in Battlefield 3 than I have in Black Ops. One technique I've always been accustomed to is jumping the moment the grenade is released to get a few more feet. Harder to get accustomed to in BF3 because you don't get the option to cook and you'll very likely give away your position with such a crazy manoeuvre.

I think they could have gone a little deeper with this article, but at least it makes sense. They are inherently different shooters, neither is inferior. The majority of players are only good at one of them. I'll openly admit that I'm pretty terrible at Battlefield, although I've pumped nearly 12 days worth of game time into Bad Company 2 on PC because I like it. I play Call of Duty with some close friends and it makes me feel like an amazing player. Noobish perhaps, but what's wrong with feeling awesome? Haters take "streamlined" and "accessible" and make it out to be a bad thing.

Seriously on those videos... was he actually trying to play with controller in one hand and camera in the other? Is it that difficult to set up a camera to record your play??

I guess we'll have to wait until the MW3 beta to fully compare the two.

Betas are great. With a beta, a game can at least be partially tested before launch and developers can have the chance to work on the game so it doesn't get released full of bugs and glitches and take multiple patches to even be playable.

There IS going to be a CoD beta this year, right?

Btw, on underground networks, the trains have that special reinforced glass that you see in planes (they look so much easier to smash than it is), and I think it's debatable whether a grenade (perhaps not explosive impact though) would shatter it.

It's like the windshields of cars (aka Luminated Glass)... A human can go right into one after being hit by a car and the glass still doesn't shatter.

BF3 is for the men and COD is for the kids.

1. Teamwork is needed and especially good communication on enemy location and type.

2. flanking and cover need to be used as "Rambo run n gun" will only get you on the wrong end of someone else's highlight reel!!

3. BF3 requires Skills.....your grandma isn't gonna like this one so get a new gaming buddy. "little johnny this game don't have them darn kill streaks and freebie spawn kills....No Grandma......"well that's bullcrap little johnny, hows grandma suppose to top the leader board then"?

4. Camping will get you cursed out, cyber bullied, and kicked off the server by your own team!

Battlefield 3 was going to change everything and move some COD gamers to Battlefield 3, this will not happen, most people who have played it first hand will know this.

I hate it when someone compares BF to COD. Two different games. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

1. Screen tearing
2. Slow 30fps framerate

I'm surprised the author didn't get annoyed with the knifing controls. the fact that it's LB/L2 instead of a click on the analog stick... oh and the fact that in Battlefield you can't knife people from 15 feet away!

What's the word on bullet damage? High (more like call of duty) bullet damage? Or ridiculously weak (like battlefield 1943) bullet damage? Or somewhere in the middle?

I think that much like in BC2, the grenade thing will definately be fixed, as for the small stem, i dont mind jumping, but i see your point. Another thing i noticed was that grenades bounce off windows but if you back up and throw it from a distance, its momentum gets it through the window. I personally love this physics design =)

Personally I think sniping is much easier in Battlefield but that may be because it just feels more natural. That ledge thing will get annoying though.

I noticed all four. And my response to each:

1. Not being able to walk over a small object is very annoying. Like when in the train tracks and you have to hop over rails.

2. Doesn't bother me.

3. Not being able to cook grenades annoys me more than the throw length. It gives enemies a chance to escape and that's pointless.

4. Not getting one-shot kills with snipers is fine... unless it's a headshot. If I crack a round into an enemy's face, they shouldn't be able to shrug it off. Makes sniping a tad pointless but at the same time stops the campers. Double edged sword.

My two cents anyway.

While in a gun fight that curb can get really annoying! Strifing and shooting is hindered by it. I hope it is changed.

3. You acutally have to aim on target not in the vicinity of them

I was just playing with a buch of Cod players on my team and I lost like 4 maps with this guys they just run & gun and camping all the map as attackers cant believe this guys are so bads but I think they will get better with the time maybe. Stop playing cods noobs games.

Who cares what CoD players think? When I want to hear their opinion I will go to my local Middle School.

Im a CoD player not a fan and i want to try me some BF3 i wanna see what alllll the hype is about and if its fun as f*uck i will be making the transition from Made for Wimps3 --to--> Beastly as F*ck3!!

Il actually just list my personal annoyances with the game.

- The map design on rush is a defenders paradise in those narrow subway tunnels, its so easy for them to lock a tunnel down with a support weapon. The map doesnt allow for any creative flanking, its just run in here were the camping enemies are and pray one of you gets through so you can spawn on them.

- The assault rifles have a shedload of recoil yet the carbines & SMGs are like laser beams with virtually none (looking at you AK74u with a grip)

- The xbox version at least still has the same old problem of getting shot after you get into cover.

- People are already finding ways to glitch under the map

- If you jump into a crater your character completely glitches out and theres also various ponts which are very glitchy (yes I know, beta)

- You cant customise your kits in the menu

- textures on the 360 version are just dire

- bad screen tearing & frame rate lag spikes on 360 version (just pointing out the xbox faults, obviously il be getting the more meaty PC version)

- 3D spotting is as BS as ever, if you cant see people without a big orange dot over their head sorry to say your a babbling retard and if you cant communicate accurately to were an enemy is you need to upgrade your communication skills.

- Apparently rebalancing operation metro meant taking the tank off for the attacking team? WRONG!!!! rebalancing it would mean giving the attackers more routes to attack in the tunnels instead of "charge down here into enemy camping nest" infact not even charging, careful play is NOT rewarded in this game, it seems to be more about sprinting around behind your enemies like a lunatic with a pistol cappign them all in the back.

Simply put.
One game is more realistic than the other.
If you want a arcade shooter...COD is your game.
If you want a mix of Arcade and MORE of a tactical shooter, Buy BF3.

I'm annoyed with all the comparison articles, I mean WHO CARES! COD is for noobs and casuals, and BF is for PROS!

Well of course cod fans will be annoyed at things in BF, its Bf. Its not hold man while we cross the street game like cod has became over the years. Sure some points in article are true like having to jump over a little curb is annoying or it taking 2 or three shots to kill someone from sniper shot to the chest and the visuals aren't as stable as its suppose to be. Guess what its a damn beta do people except to be like the retail game. Sure there's a lot to be done still to improve this game better but its why dice has this beta out for you to have fun playing but also tell them what needs fixing etc so when the retail game comes out its not a problem anymore.
Also on Bf note on spotting if you haven't realize like most players haven't pushing select or back spots opposing team players with orange triangle over their head. here's a vid by pixel enemy on how not to be a noob on bf(its Bfbc2 but still gives the basic on how bf works)

1. I agree with this one...its like that in BFBC2..small curbs etc....that you should be able to auto step onto you have to jump!! Hopefully they fix it...as I shouldnt have to JUMP to get onto a normal curb LOL!

2. Cross hairs...turning red. I like it in games like Gears of War (arcade action) but for BF type games...no red cross hairs for me :)

3. The grenade differences....they both are different and Im sure a COD will notice it for sure. I do wish BF3 had cooking a nade. Whereas BFBC2 you couldnt cook a nade....and u get used to how mch time it takes for it to explode after some practice.

4. Im glad sniping isnt easy..as less ppl will want to try and be a sniper :) :) :)

All in all....ALL COD fans will have much much longer list of things to complain about. They are 2 games in the same genre that are not really alike at all outside of shoot the enemy they die.

BF3? They need to go back to BF2 for the mainline. Heck, I'd settle for true-to-source remakes of BF2 and BC2 (w/ Vietnam). Everything they've done in the 'modern' era is just bad.

I've not played 2042 myself but after v I don't feel like it. I played a few hours of v with friends but it feels ultra sterile I can't figure it out but the game looks and feels clinical. The storys in the campaign were also bland and uninteresting and felt like a dull trudge through checkpoints as you waited for an ending.

I've played the franchise dating back to it's original PC launch and PS2 spin off games I did enjoy 1 overall and it's take on placing you in different scenarios and battles was interesting but not all that good imo as you couldn't really connect with any characters longer than 2 hours.

hardline for all the hate it recived was a fun story and a new take but a bad mp game

I feel like v overall was the turning point and instead of showing the gritty reality of war they turned everything sterile and presented it in a clean cut boring frame in order to pump it full of weird micro transactions overall they spent far to much time on trying to implant ray tracing and other graphical flourishes and forgot to make the game enjoyable

I mean thats all we've wanted since BF4 but they keep doing everything we don't want.
