Nearly a year after the PlayStation 3 launch, one must consider what exactly Sony has to show for its efforts. Once touted as the "Mercedes" of all gaming consoles and publicized globally by Sony's Marketing and Public Relations minions as a replacement for the modern day computer as we know it, the consumer has yet to see such rhetoric manifest into actual reality. Sony may be the "Mercedes" of the console industry but to date, they have demonstrated indubitably that the clutch has slipped and the Benz cannot shift out of second. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the 360 has taken flight.
Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."
I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed
Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.
I feel the same way.
I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?
Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.
Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

Bioshock is one of my favourites franchises. I love all 3 games and have played each several times. I even have a room in my house that is loosely decorated around the theme of Bioshock (with a Lighthouse, coral models and postcards styled as though they are from both Rapture and Columbus).
And yet I am going to find it extremely difficult to get even remotely excited about any future episode in the series after all the problems this has had in its development cycle.
Leave the franchise alone. Remaster them again if you have to. Then put whatever talent you have to use on something brand new.
Since ken levine isn't involved i'm not surprised what's going on. i'm more excited for his next game which looks like bioshock. Yet he still works under take2 and they are making bioshock 4 without him, strange situation.
Yes. Judas. Looks brilliant, but it's one of those games that seems to never have had a release date. Instead it's had release windows that keep getting pushed back.
Once it's ready, I'll be there for it though. Ken Levine is an excellent developer.
I get the feeling he dissolved Irrational Games simply so that 2k couldn't tell him what to do. It seems it will pay off, but I feel sorry for those who worked as part of Irrational before it was dissolved, who hadn't independently made a name for themselves.

It sucks this game is in development hell because I love BioShock and would love a 4th game. I hope it turns out great, but I guess we'll see.
It's been in development hell since 2014. This is nothing new. It saddens me because it's one of my favorite series. At this point, Judas may end up releasing first.
Bioshock 4 (if it ever comes out) will probably still look and play like a Bioshock game, but without Kevin, it might miss that spark that made the originals so special. Honestly, Judas might end up feeling more like the real spiritual successor.

6 million in sales, in a year dominated by a 250 dollar selling powerhouse and an over price RROD piece of junk. They did this without the help of literally no 3rd party support, mind you. Not 1 3rd party came to Sony's aid for an exclusive. Remember that, folks.
Sony sold 6 million units on their own. Pretty damn impressive, if you ask me. The future will be better as Sony. Maybe not as good as it once was, but the future will be more quality as long as we have 3 consoles all viable. It's never happened before. Ever! 1 console always dominated in the past... making it the lead platform for other developers to ignore the one that wasn't selling.
Now, the tide has shifted and I'm glad "for 1" the xbox 360 is doing so well, as I am for the wii. This will ensure Sony takes drastic measures to better themselves for us, the consumer. Who wins? Every non biased gamer. Who loses? Every SLOP DONG who doesn't see both sides of the coin.
The bias media needs to stop. Sony's came along way since Giant Enemy crabs and 600 dollar price points.
